Signing today for 80+ year olds
Did sellers docs today for an elderly couple.
Took him 5 minutes to get his ID out of his wallet.
They were a delightfull couple but would stare at the docs after I told them what they were and where to sign.
A signing that should have taken 30 mnutes took an hour and a half.

I have done everything from Reverse Mortgages to a Refi and Purchase for elderly couples. I happen to enjoy the elderly so I don't mind the extra time but once I know they are elderly from either the docs or talking with them on the phone I always allow extra time. Just remember, one day you might be old too.

I feel sorry for you Buddy
Your 80+ year old couple lived through the depression. Consequently, they are not the most trusty folks. To make matters worse, they are the target of all kinds of elderly scams.
So what if it took the man five minutes to get his ID -- did you have someplace to go? If so, that was your own fault -- as has already been pointed out, no matter what the situation, you will always spend longer with elderly people. It doesn't mean that they are not aware of their surroundings or what is going on or what they are signing.
As for staring at the documents -- did you ever stop to think that they were reading the docs?

My initial thought was "staring at the paper
and dreading putting pen to paper" - might have been the toughest thing they've had to do in a long time.
