Toner prices up this month
First paper price's now toner. I can get a two pack last month for 25 bucks, now this month it's jumped to 37.
Anyone else see the same thing.

I heard that toner is a petroleum product. I don't know if that's true, but even if it's not, the price of producing or shipping the toner probably has gone up because of the increase in energy cost.

Are you going to be able to cover your costs with $50 fees?

Everything is up, including food and household supplies. It's the gas prices. Everything comes on a truck and when the price per gallon of diesel goes up, so does the price of everything else we consume.

My HP 2430dtn takes a toner cartridge that is nearly $150.00! And I get calls to do $50.00 closings...no way!

My toner has increased significantly as well - I use a BrotherHL-5370DW. Always keep a backup, too.

Richard, I have the same printer and don't pay anywhere near that for toner. That price would have me obsessing about my cost per page. I pay a fraction of that and don't think about it any more.
I was getting them for about $50 each (the Q6511X) from LD Products, but recently decided to switch to MonoPrice (on the recommendation of another regular here (who also uses the same printer) because the price was less than $30 each. So far, so good. For what I save, I could afford to buy another printer, if necessary. (I think there are lots of these slightly used, available for relatively cheap, still on the market.) These all have a chip that the printer recognizes as "official HP cartridge". However, I noticed that I need to keep an eye on "supply status" because it no longer notifies me when toner is about to run out - at least the ones I've tried so far. Again, for the savings, well worth it to me.

thanks for this info, Janet. I just ordered two from LD yesterday for $40 each so I'll try them next time.
