What's with notaries not showing, etc. Heard
alot of that today. Did some clean up work and had 3 closings and had to decline a few - didn't want to close till very late, way out of my coverage area etc. Two different borrowers today mentioned the notary backed out at the last minute yesterday. I'm betting that's not the case and docs weren't ready in time.

Had three calls like that tonight! Latest being 9pm...over an hour away...last day of the month to close/fund. Going to get my husband trained next to handle these last minute ones when I'm on the road doing other ones.

I've had several calls today, one when I was in front of the signers house (I was booked yesterday for this signing tonight)! I wonder if the title companies and signing services would work with a planning person to better schedule the signing process? If yes, I'd love the job

Think! If the signing service has another person in the process, how do you propose the pay them? With lower rates to the Notary! Not part of my agenda. I would like higer rates.

Of course the notaries backed out. They backed out when appointment time rolled around and there were no docs. I've done that on occasion. That's why whenever I get last-minute calls I ask "Do you have the docs right now?" If they say "no" or "they're just about ready" I decline the assignment as it is likely to result in lots of waiting around and then a no-go.

I Pick up 2 from Notary Problems
The first was docs to borrower for a 7:30pm signing the previous day. The first call from the notary to the Borrower was at 10:00pm (2.5 hours late) saying she would be there in 10 minutes. The B told her to stick it, and I was called to sign the next day. The second, the notary was on their way, punched the addr. in the GPS and did not want to go there and gave it back 30 min. prior to the signing. I got an emergency call and did it later that evening.
Believe me, not all notaries are good notaries.
