New Mobile Notary

Hi

I am new to the business. I am a mobile notary and loan signing agent. I am not sure where to start. In regards to tax purposes how can I get an EIN?
How do you all feel about loan signing companies is it worth it or better to go get business yourself?
What advertisements do you use and find most successful in getting business?
Your responses are appericiated.

Go to the IRS website to get an EIN online. As to how to get started, I suggest searching the message database as this has been covered several times in the recent past. Also, your posts suggests little business background. Therefore, I suggest you find the closest office of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and take their courses on how to setup a business.

Good answer! And, don't assume. Never. Ask whenever you are unsure. No question is a dumb question except the one not asked. Don't take basement rates. It hurts all of us.
Thanks for asking.

By using the orange search button, you will find the

answers to those questions that weren't already answered.

Remember that this is a competitive business that most people are not going to just start offering what they have had to work hard and diligently at to be successful in. All the answers and THEN some have already been answered. Do your homework and then ask if you have a question that's not available.

The people on this forum will be happy to assist but will not hold anyone's hand. Believe me, we all were newbies at some point; so we get it, but we too, were encouraged to do our own footwork.

Also don't believe the hype that "there's plenty to go around." That is not necessarily true. Go onto the find a notary tab, put in your zip code and see how many other notaries (already well established?) are in your area. That should give you an idea as to the amount of difficulty you could potentially face getting started. Don't expect to have a steady stream of viable income for 6 months to a year (or more...back when I started it took longer. I didn't have the luxury of knowing about this site!!! I had to do much more extensive footwork.)

Also, if you want to be taken seriously as a real person (newbie), be sure to link your profile to each post. You can do that by checking the "Add Link to My Profile" box that is displayed by your name when you post a message on the board.

Of course this is all just my input and my opinion. Others may have differing experiences and guidance, but that is what I freely offer.

Good luck to you. Wishing you much success!
