As an economist for about 4 decades I totally disagree with the opinion of Peter Schiff, who was quoted in the beginning article. The vast majority of the economics community disagrees with his position as well. I also disagree with the Newsmax portal as being little more than an agenda driven site devoid of any balance in their stories, articles or positions being advocated.

New organizations are supposed to be objective, unbiased and balanced. A trick Newsmax and many other blogging sites have yet to learn.

I forgot to mention that the Republican PR machine has been calling for sharply higher interest rates due to our debt levels to arrive any day now for the past six years. Newsmax, in my opinion, is part of the Republican PR machine.

I don't keep up with the leanings of any publications or blogs. I was surfing for other information about the mortgage industry and came upon the article that I posted because I thought it was a portend to more business coming our way. I had no intention of flaring up political vitriol. I apologize to those who felt I was trying to do so.

I will certainly be glad when the elections are over and everything posted doesn't touch a political nerve for either side. Can't we all just bless each other rather than jump down each other's throats?

***Can't we all just bless each other rather than jump down each other's throats?***

The problem with that is that uniformly you will find only the rightwingers posting political garbage in the Discuss Work and Leisure forums, so what you're asking is that those of us of a progressive slant simply bless their transgressions.

This is the only remotely progressive-oriented item I have ever seen deliberately posted in DW, and I suspect Howard posted this only because yesterday he posted some Republican effluent, so this was supposed to be a mea culpa for that.

Note also that when a rightwinger ignores the rules and deliberately posts in an inappropriate forum, there will be some rightwingers such as Richard Deutsch who immediately jump in and pat them on the back for breaking the rules.

So, no, Cheryly, I'm not going to bless that sort of conduct. You would have far better luck keeping political crap out of this forum, if you would just tell the rightwingers, when they insist on breaking the rules, that they should take that stuff to Just Politics, I think you will have better luck in seeing that politics doesn't pollute things here.

And finally, I don't think anyone objected to your post, which was not obviously politically oriented. I think the objection was to Howard's comments.

I am not now, did I intend it to be a political post but rather a statement of fact.

Any blog or magazine that has Rush Limbaugh as a contributing editor strongly suggests their political bias and advocacy. Rush Limbaugh is a contributing editor for Newsmax.

BTW- I do not see any prohibition of politics in the rules and guidelines for notary talk. I do find prohibitions on the rude and inappropriate personal attacks made by some of the posters here.

I would like to see the nasty posters dressed down once in a while.

Rule II(3):
Please keep off-topic posts to a minimum and avoid topics that others may consider offensive, such as politics and religion. Under no circumstance should the forum be used to further a political, ideological or religious agenda; these topics have nothing to do with the inherent neutrality of notarial functions and our board is therefore not an appropriate venue for them.

You should have continued reading RuleII(4)

Do not personally attack, insult or degrade *other users* or companies. If you are going to bash a company's reputation, be prepared to provide concrete and substantial proof of your allegation.

And, this part!

If you are going to confront another user or dispute a post, do so on a **rational and constructive basis** with the facts in hand. Debate is always healthy

And, as a side note Hugh, on Forums, BB's etc, on the internet, it is considered in VERY POOR TASTE to continually refer to someone by their PROPER NAME, you should be calling me bagger!!!

I realize that the senility may be setting in, but whot consider it a courtesy to stop referring to me ny my proper name.

DEAF EARS, but what the heck, worth a shot!

Lib all the way is funny.

Then I must be the only "lib all the way" person to have been a delegate at a Republican National Convention.

Sounds like conservative bashing to me.

LOL. I'm predicting higher interest rates, higher gas

prices, & higher taxes. To follow that, it will mean lower wages, etc. I don't need any news guru to tell me that. Think about the interest rates on mortgages in the 80's. The big boys want to be making more money $$$$$. That's the way it's alway been.
No politics here--just facts as I see them. ;-)
