Great directions from borrower
Got directions from borrower for asigning this morning. " Go out hwy 36 west for 7 miles, turn left, go accross the creek, it's low right now so you shouldn't have any trouble getting accross, turn right at the big oak tree. Actually it was easy to find. It reminds me of some of the stories I have read here on not rot.

I would not drive across the creek even if it is low.

To quote Jeff Foxworthy:
"If the directions to your house include the phrase 'turn off the paved road', you might be a redneck..."

Reminds me of my days in EMS 30 years ago before the county had 911, or street names for that matter. "Go past the Wilson farm and it's the second lane past where the oak tree got hit by lightning 40 years ago."

LOL Ed...yep...
and if you get to the red barn with the chicken out in front you've gone too far.
Had one lady had NO idea of the street names to get to her house. She had to wait for her granddaughter to get home to call me and let me know where I was going..

From my time in New England
"Go down this road past where the Dunkin' Donuts used to be, bang a left."

Yup, I get some like that!
Especially this time of year when the off-roaders are visiting/camping on their vacant land in their RVs...or less.
This time of year, it's not unusual for me to be given GPS coordinates or direction via dirt roads that involve looking for a particular color streamer or stack of old tires for landmarks.
If only I were making that up. I've done 6 refis's so far this month inside of RV's parked out in the middle of nowhere.

Marian, did you have to do some quick brush up on Latitude and Longitude?? LOL I would have never made it! I am so geographically challenged that it is unreal! Tell me left or right, not east or west and things should go smooth!

Re: Yup, I get some like that!
NOt really, I'm actually really good with maps and navigation. I also carry a regular handheld GPS unit with me. Not the kind you use for driving directions (I have that on my phone), but one of those handheld ones. I find it very handy this time of year. In the summer, not so much because the visitors aren't here. But especially now... in the fall and winter... there are RVs and toy haulers everywhere you go. Some people own land out here for the sole purpose of camping for several weeks at a time for off-roading.

These are all so great. My fav: "Ok. After you go through
Neotsu, turn right at Deer Road. The sign's gone now, but there're some mailboxes. Keep going up past where Old Dan's barn burned down, and turn left at the second driveway, by a really big tree. It doesn't look like a driveway, but there's a fork in the road. That's us."
There are hundreds of mailboxes along the Hiway, and Deer "Road" is more like Deer Path. Dan's Barn burned down 30 years ago, and there's apparently a great story about it. A really big tree in the dense forest...okaaaay. Oh, and there was indeed a -fork- on the road, on the tree - a 7' wooden fork painted silver.
She had lightbulbs 'planted' along her walkway - it was her year-round "bulb garden." What a hoot.
