Re: Shoemaker's please tell me
Julie -
We received all e-mails. In addition to the response Grif already sent you, I just sent a more thorough response describing the background check process, the fact that the check in question was ordered on December 14th, that all background checks through December 27th have been completed EXCEPT that one (to illustrate that it is, in fact, the "exception to the rule," as described on the NPBC home page), and that the delay is due to a backlog at the Santa Clara courthouse, according to our background screening partner:
"Hi Harry! I completely understand your urgency and will have our investigators try and obtain status from our researcher. It appears this was outsourced on 12/14 to Santa Clara County, CA. Santa Clara County is a Clerk Search Only, meaning we are at the mercy of the clerks to find, retrieve and pull all case files. There is no automation or electronic access for this jurisdiction, so we must wait for the clerk to reach our request in the queue for a manual search. A lot of the courts have been closed for the holidays and are backed up with requests. As soon as I receive an ETA, I will let you know."
I don't think I can be any more clear than the e-mail I sent. If you have additional questions about it, please feel free to reply.
