Home Affordable Direct
Has anyone done work with this company or heard of them? They are located at Farmingdale NY. They called me, I did a signing for them today but can't find them in SC. From what I gather, they do loan modifications. They do have a website. If anyone is familiar with them, please let me know. Thanks.

The loan modification contract of the application? Was there any funds collected (cask or credit card)?

The signing was more of an agreement with Home Affordable Direct for the client. He did have to give them a check so that they would start the paperwork process for him. I'm just wondering if anyone has done anything with them and how they pay.
To me, if you have half a brain, which this guy did, you could do this yourself. It's a matter of filling out forms for your lender and sending them w-2's, tax returns, bank statements, etc. I guess some people feel it's easier to pay a fee to have someone else do this for you.
At any rate, mine is not to question, mine is just to do. So I went out and had the client sign the agreement. Just wanted to see if they pay their notaries, etc. before taking anymore work from them.

I would be vary cautious in taking that type of work
funds collected up front, for service the borrower can do themselves is a big red flag. In fact, it could be illegal.

Re: I would be vary cautious in taking that type of work
I'll have to look into the legality of that type of firm. I, personally, don't think it's illegal because they are nothing more than a service company who matches the client with the proper attorney and then the deal is negotiated. So, I'm guessing they are nothing more than the middle man in the whole thing.
If I find anything different, I'll be sure to post so no one gets caught up.
