Abondoned by Service Link?
My mom and I are both signing agents, but not signed on with the same companies. She was signed up with Service Link and was contacted by them some time ago to inform her that she was a "Preferred Agent" and would receive more business. She was even asked to attend a seminar in Jacksonville, FL for the Preferred Notaries where they also told them they would begin to receive more calls and wanted feed back on what they could do differently. As of December 1, 2011 she has not received a single call from them. That's 3 months! Anyone know why they would all of a sudden stop calling a "Preferred Agent" without explanation? It couldn't be because of her fees b/c they never asked for her to lower them. I almost feel like calling them myself to find out why. She isn't too concerned b/c she doesn't want anymore business right now.

Hi Karin~ I would definitely have your mom call them since she is the one they have been dealing with. Going from routine calls from the SS, to zero calls in three months, does seem pretty strange.
Have to ask, were they paying her on a regular basis??? I ask because the reviews are pretty mixed on SC for them. Only you and your mom know if they are worth pursuing.
Good luck with it.

I do know she would have to submit for payment and then she would receive a check from them, but it was usually more than 30 days later.

I've been in and out with Service Link
I don't know why this is, but sometimes I'll do thousands in a month for them, and then not hear from them for a while, and then before long, back to high value invoices. I've never had a payment problem with them, except for when I forget to follow their billing procedures which are a little different. They have someone new in billing who is awesome though and walked me through all of the different billing methods for all of the different departments.
Among the mega-companies, Service Link is my favorite, but I sure wish I knew why volume was so erratic.

have to ask, but did SL pay for her to attend the seminar?
Or did she have to pay? And what kind of seminar was it exactly? Curious minds want to know...and can your mom post something here so we can get the real "word of mouth" from her on all of this?
Thanks!

I was told my fees were too high so can't be in system
I filled out a ton of paperwork for Service Link only to get a call saying unless you are willing to get paid $xx (I think it was $55-65 but can't remember exact amount) we can't put you into our system, it would get automatically rejected by upper management.
I know other notaries in other states that work for them and receive at least $100-125 per assignment, so I don't understand how their system won't allow me to even be in it, but so be it.

Re: I was told my fees were too high so can't be in system
Was told the same thing. I did an assignment for them back in November for $125(just got paid last week). I told them I cannot work for $55, so they probably took me out of their system.

I had five calls from them today, always willing to meet my
They were willing to meet my fees each time $125+ depending on location and type of closing (e-closings are more). I couldn't take all of the work because I'll be out of town some of the time.
I'm certified for e-closings with them (just required attendance at a webinar and a test after the fact).
I've never taken a lowball offer from them and as far as I can recall they've always met my fees.

I get several calls from them...
I understand they are being pickier and using more experienced notaries rather than the cheapest but the work is sporadic.

Same here - I did over 30 jobs for them last year up until Nov 2011 - Zero calls since then? They paid within 30 days and typically 100-125... I think I will call them myself to ask why they don't call me anymore...

I honestly don’t like working for this company. They are too big…too many divisions and departments…disorganized…. They rarely sent their e-mail documents in a timely manner. Most of the time they are late putting you in the situation that you have to reschedule all of your other appointments…moving them up and down in order to wait for them the last minute with their documents. This is very inconvenient to say the least. They rarely pay in time. I steal have yet to receive a check from them for a closing that I have done back in February 2012. Yes I have inquired about it a couple of times with their billing department… Their documents that they sent out most of the time in the last minute…especially if it’s a Bank of America or Chase Lender….more times than not are filled with mistakes…borrowers name spelled wrong and…or….the other spouse missing from the Deed…..those creating a lot of frustration among borrowers. I do many closings with other Title companies that work with Bank of America and Chase….but I rarely have mistakes on the documents as I do with this title company…Service Link…so here it goes to show you…what a mess behind closed doors in their corporation. This is the only title company that requires fax back to almost all of the pages from the loan documents especially with Bank of America lender…that I work with…making the process very inconvenient and time consuming. Their fees are also the lowest of all the companies that I work with. To be honest with you…I rarely answer to their phone calls anymore…as I don’t like to work with them. I find them very negative….and not in harmony with me. In my opinion when you have too many headaches working with a company…is simply time to drop them….not worth working for them. Fortunately there are so many companies out there….that you can choose from that have a good reputation and is an enjoyable experience to work for them. Ultimately is your choice…but in my opinion they are more trouble than they are worth.
