BAMS Notary?? Anyone hear of them?

Hi! I saw a listing on Craigslist looking for signing agents - a nationwide ad - for BAMS Notary. I sent an email to get more info and rec'd a contract, etc. in response. However, I cannot find anything out about them. The contract mentions Noveck & Moore, PC which is a law firm in Michigan I think I found. The packages per the contract are debt resolution packages. Fees are decent - $100 - but I'm just hesitant about signing without being able to find out more information about them. If anyone has any experience with them, I greatly appreciate your feedback. Thank you!

If you are willing to loan money to strangers with no address or phone number. Please look me up. I at least have an address and phone. I could use a few hundred extra this week.

Re: See this..

They have ads like Linda posted on multiple different places...1/2 tempted to contact the law firm that's listed in the 'contract' to see what the deal is.

Search past posts regarding debt settlement. Also check

state laws regarding law offices needing to be licensed in the state doing business. I stay away from all settlements unless being hired directly from the bank.

There is an entire (long) thread devoted to them in LinkedIn. Been following their posts and responses from notaries who are wanting to work for them. They advertise $75 to $100 notary fees. I see they are primarily in debt settlement, however, they also responded that they are doing refi's, etc. Here is their response:

-----We are currently building a website to correspond with our CRM. We actually do signings for debt resolution through a law firm as well as refinances, mortgages and loan modifications. The power of attorney needs to be notarized for our debt resolution signings. Many debt resolution companies were scams but a lot of the industry has changed since the FTC's rulings in October of 2010. The time spent on the signing is the same or less than the time that would be spent on a mortgage signing. The clients get the contract ahead of time to sign an invitation for the signing agent to come and do the signing so any questions that arise would be before the notary even comes out. We feel that our compensation is VERY competitive and fair for what is being asked. We pay our notaries within 30 days of the signing but more often than not it is much sooner than that. Thanks for your concern!-------

I not a big fan of debt resolution.....but, to each his own.

Hi Stacey~ I have been working the past few months with a debt resolution company (not BAMS). They are EXCELLENT to work for - provide their own training, pay well for amount of time and knowledge necessary to do the job, pay at the end of the following month the work was done in, pay WELL for traveling to areas beyond 50 miles, hold monthly conference calls with all signers, wonderful software to retrieve doc's to take to appointment & upload doc's after signing, very easy to get along with, and expects professionalism from everyone that works with them.

I'm not sure if BAMS is up to those standards or not - I am, however, checking them out like you are since I have had such an excellent experience with this other debt resolution company.

I, like most people, had a negative feeling about these types of companies before contracting with them - they have totally changed my attitude.

Hope this helps in your decision. Karla

Adding to my previous post: one of the requirements is that you have a minimum of six months experience working as a paralegal/legal assistant in some capacity (school/training also counts as experience). Sorry for leaving that detail off. Karla
