Be careful out there fellow notaries

There are so many idiots on the roads whose only mission is to get to their destination as fast as they can.

My husband just called me and said he just "dodged a bullet". That bullet being another vehicle.

He just left home and was about a minute away. He was at a stop light in the RHT lane. Light turns green and he's making a turn, when a car going west flew through the red light just missing my husband. He was pretty shaken up and that's a rare occasion for him. I told him that I always ask the Good Lord to keep him safe on his journey when he walks out our door.

This incident just reminds me that in our never-ending quest to get to our borrowers' homes, especially at EOM, we always need to stay sharp and aware of what is happening around us. Our life or someone else's could depend on it.

I don't care how many people beep at me, I look to make sure all cars are stopped before I proceed. Red light running is just too common any more.

JanCA makes a very valid point here...you just can not be too careful.

I also do the same and I stated that to my husband. If I'm first in line, I look right and left before proceeding. It has become the norm for many to run the light. And don't even get me started about whizzing through stop signs as if they aren't even there. It's horrific.

And what about the 90 MPH drivers in the 60 MPH posted highways? Even a local preacher got stopped for going 100 in a 65 a couple weeks ago. Makes it harder on us law-abiding citizens when some consider themselves above the law.

I just came home from getting a haircut and as I was merging onto the feeway, I saw a car coming so I sped up. He also sped up to get ahead of me so I ended up breaking to avoid hitting the other car.

Had a CHP seen this clown, he would have been stopped. Anyone merging onto a CA freeway has the right of way. This was another situation my husband got into many years ago. He was merging onto the freeway and the vehicle in the RHL almost ran him off the road. Needless to say, my husband chased this idiot down he was so pi??'d off. And the rest, I'll let to your imagination, but an HP did get involved.

Let’s see…… can Notaries Public arrest people? (Where’s the guy that wanted NP badges?) How about can we have and use sirens, and flashing warning lights like police, and emergency vehicles when we are running late for an appointment? How about carrying concealed weapons when venturing into dubious neighborhoods? Would it be legal to just go and shoot those deadbeats in this business that do not pay us rather than trying to take them to court or arrest them? Could we hire other NP’s that are nearer than us to the deadbeat’s location to go and shoot them? Could the injured parties (those not paid) put a small bounty on those that don’t pay? (I’d be willing) To those that finally pay but take forever, and mostly ignore or pleas for payment could we just shoot them a little bit (flesh wound)? Since we are commissioned officers of the State (soon to have badges, guns, sirens/flashing lights, and arrest people, with the ability to take and administer oaths….. can we shoot the politicians of our respective States when we catch them lying, or not upholding their oaths of office?
Come on people let’s get some action going on this…along with ‘doing notaries’ just think of the good we can do (and the fun we could have doing it) JMO!

Jan~ thanks for the heads up - a reminder to be safe is always appropriate here. I'm so glad your husband was spared. Karla
