Fax backs

Who is the company that requires fax backs on all signings??? I have worked for them several times and cannot remember because it is National, Nations, Nationwide something. The last time they called, I turned them down and they got very nasty and said they were calling the lender to tell on me. Who cares??? The lender seldom, if ever, requests a particular Notary.

I think that is the one. Thye donot tell you abuot their requirement for fax backs until you get the confirmation. I do not like towork for them and since I have quite a few other companies that keep me busy, I told them to take me out of their data base. They are also slow pay, I think.

Sounds like Nations Direct and Global Notary......wants the most work out of you but their pay is low and slow.

Title company/closers, schedulers, etc who have nasty attitudes/irrational and try and guilt you into taking less money, traveling further, sending you in to bad neighborhoods, and ridiculous fax backs seldom get my cooperation.

Some of you may not believe this but there are some lenders that require fax-backs. Some on every file (Anderson Financial) and (to many to name) others depending on circumstance. I know you think it’s just some PITA SS requirement used to make our lives miserable. Mostly it IS a SS or Title requirement because of the many MISTAKES we ALL make. If you refuse to do fax-backs you WILL lose a LOT of business, and probably should reconsider your career. JMO….And FYI I too hate fax-backs, but if it’s a requirement I do them. My FIRST requirement is that whomever I work for meets my fee…they pay me for a service…I do as instructed (within the law).

Seriously! Always doublecheck the package. Fair fees get fair notaries and few mistakes, cheap fees get inexperienced notaries and many mistakes.....I love it when a title company pays a cheap notary and then pays me more than they paid the cheap notary because of mistakes. Duh! They should have paid once.

Sorry ‘cowboy’ I thought I was myself, speaking an opinion. Let me make it perfectly clear that…. I DO NOT speak for you! The next time someone tells you that they require fax-backs I suggest you tell them that you don’t make mistakes; therefore you do not do fax-backs.

To Les re faxbacks

First I agree that the lender/TC is the customer and has the right to ask for faxbacks, initials or anything else legal they want. We can either do it or not except their work. But I am curious what reason can there be except where a loan needs to fund "today" can there be for faxbacks except to check for errors. Certainly a refi with a 3 day RTC doesn't need it.

It takes longer to take apart the package, fax the mostly 30 plus pages I have been seeing, put the package back together. Hope it doesn't jamb in the fax machine. Hope they get it. Then take it Fedex. It is not time or cost effective and at end of month it wrecks havoc on your schedule. In any event you certainly don't get paid for it. Do I do it for some "customers"...yes but I cringe when I get one of these jobs. Like tonight. Now I wait for the okay.... Which by the way I usually have to do a follow up on....
In the end it took longer than the signing.

Re: To Les re faxbacks

I agree…as I said I hate fax backs precisely because of the reasons you outline. Very time consuming, tedious, and in most cases unnecessary…but as you say “they” are the customer, and “they” are paying us for the service “they” want…Not necessarily would like to give. Most times simple mistakes that show up can be corrected before funding thus saving a redraw of docs, the loss of lock in, and a myriad of other time/expense consuming problems. If you don’t like fax-backs…don’t do them. If they are required as part of the ‘service’ requested charge for your time…I do.

Agh. Just reread what you originally wrote. I guess I misunderstood. It must have been all the fax backs I had last night. Lol. Have a great day... No fax backs

As Long As I Am Fairly Compensated

I'll do the fax backs. Just about all of the companies I deal with do not require them except if it involves an investment property, which usually requires them in order to fund on the same day. Even then, you will be paid extra for faxing back docs.

In the event you get a confirmation which requests fax backs but there's no mention of compensation for those fax backs, don't hesitate to call the company. It takes time to yank out documents, load and send out docs on the fax, wait for the fax to go through and put the docs back in the package. I've never had any problems requesting extra compensation for faxing back documents after accepting an assignment. If the company is truly about business and professionalism, they will not either.

I'm annoyed when faxbacks are NOT a written part of the original order. The hiring party calls the next day to ask for faxbacks (from the evening signing the previous night). If my schedule permits it AND they pay for it - no problem.

While I dislike the pita factor of faxbacks, I have no problem in providing same
PROVIDED I'm told when they call so I can quote an appropriate fee for the
additional time/expense required. What I hate is the non-disclosure 'game'.

Agreed that if it’s a requirement we should be told in front. I often say if you need some fax-backs I can do that, but I can’t drop the package today, which do you want, drop today or fax-backs and drop tomorrow? And by the way I guaranty my work. They often say drop the package today. (then you know it’s not a lender requirement)

Nations Direct and Global Notary are the ones that ask for major fax backs before dropping.

On the contrary, some lenders and loan officers do have preferences for certain notaries and will put in a request for that notary if he or she is available.

National link's PNC loans require more than 50 pages faxed back, they say Lender requires it.
