Here's one for you!
I did a signing late Thurs. night and had instructions to drop the docs in the mail slot at a Title Co. in town. Ok. Signing went well, dropped docs in slot located just to the right of the main front door on the side of the Bldg. Fri. morn. e-mail. Title didn't recieve docs. Got right on the phone to Title. "I put them in the your mail slot". "We don't have a mail slot". "It's just to the right of your front door". "Huh? Let me look". "Oh, that slot just goes into the wall. We have no access to it". Long story short... They had a contractor saw open the slot to where the docs could be reached and all was well. Along with my docs, the contractor pulled out a lot of other mail that had been building up for who knows how long and that was only as far as he could reach. Of course, I was there to see it all as I needed to make sure my docs were retrieved. (I do take ownership of them until they reach their destination. I can't help myself.) I left after that, but I have a feeling that they may have opened it up a bit further to get all the rest of what I'm sure was in there. That was just the start of my EOM Friday. It is 1:29 a.m. now and I'm going to bed.

Why were there instructions to drop in a mail slot that
they couldn't get too? Something isn't right here. And, you were there when the sawed it open???? A phone call would have been good enough for me. Do you get on the Fed Ex plane and make sure they are delivered too? Just kidding here , but???

They should have had that sealed up a long time ago so it wouldn't open if it didn't work. If they told you to drop in their mail slot, where were they referring to then?

Ok. I know that I made a long story short, but it was late. The docs were to be picked up in the a.m. by someone commuting to same title co. different city. Instructions came from that end. I guess they assumed that there would be a mail slot or had actually seen the one that I used, not knowing that it was a slot to nowhere. Why was I there to watch the sawing? This did not happen quickly. I was being updated throughout the morning and noone was sure that the docs were retreivable. I was possibly going to have to go out and resign at 2:00 p.m. (Now, at EOM I'm turning down jobs for middle of day because I am diligent and my docs will be delivered come .... you know the rest.) I had to drop docs from my morning appt. at a UPS on the same street as Title so I went by to give everyone a face to the person that I was sure they must have been cursing. Turns out everyone was terrific! We work with the best people on earth! It was close to 1:00 p.m. when I arrived. The contractor was there but was still awaiting permission to cut into the wall. Permission granted not too long after. I think that this whole ordeal was a blessing in disguise. I left just after my docs were fished out, but I noticed as I left that the contractor was pulling out letters, large & small. I even noticed one large USPS overnight pak. Gives new meaning to "it must have gotten lost in the mail". I wonder how many substitute mail persons have misstook the slot for the mailbox. I'm sure that they've gotten closure to a lot of unsolved mysteries. I just can't understand how it could have happened for so long without someone realizing that people were using that slot. Time for me to get to my Sat. appts. Everyone have a great day!
