Regarding your earllier reply about travel fee. The $25 convenience fee is specifically set out in our state notary laws as a convenience fee for mobile notary work and not a travel fee. We are allowed to charge a travel fee equal to federal mileage allowance in addition to the convenience fee. Re: your advice, I have contacted IRS in the past and FWIW, the person I talked with advised that it would be considered notary income for self employment taxes. Regarding all the other comments in this string, I certainly agree with you and some others that each closing should stand alone for calculating notary income and deductible amount.

Anyhow, Linda, I always look forward to your comments as they are usually quite correct and from a knowledgeable source.
