Notary On The Run?
I have a job to do for them, and asked them about the company with the same name here that has gone out of business. Here is their reply: As for that other company that has the same name as us. I believe that they were in business for a short time and are now out of business. They were located in Anaheim and went bankrupt. We are incorporated in the state of CA and are located in Los Angeles. We would not be able to do notary work if we were out of business Notary On The Run, Inc.
Corporate Offices 8726 S. Sepulveda Blvd., Bldg D, Ste# 931 Los Angeles, California 90045
This is from a lady named Jennifer
It's for a 7 page medical document that needs to be filled out and sent back-no notarized papers.
Anyone have any dealings with them?

Never worked for them...but
There's no record in the CA SOS for Notary on the Run...so I question if they're incorporated in the State of CA - anybody can add "Inc" to the end of their name - doesn't mean they've registered with the state.
Based on that together with what I see in Signing Central, I personally would take a second look at accepting this job especially if a notary is not required - but that's jmho...you can do what you will with the information and make your decision.
Good luck.

Re: Never worked for them...but
Their whole response sounds pretty suspicious. In any case, I'm with Linda H. I've run across several "businesses" that say they're incorporated but actually are not.
Most important: If they don't need anything notarized, they should call a cab driver or pick a name out of the phone book. These outtfits want the cache of a notary doing their work, but if I'm not stamping my seal on something I'm not getting involved - at least under the umbrella of a notary.

Re: Never worked for them...but
I worked for Jennifer and Mike many years ago, during the Ameriquest phase. They were good people and paid decent fees for a SS. They stopped calling me after so many notaries got into the business and lowered the fees. Scuttlebutt was they had gone belly-up and I'm sure if you do a search you might find something to that effect. I think many SS's have resurrected themselves over the past year. I got a call last night from an SS that I had not heard from in at least 3 yrs and there have been many negative comments on this forum about them. I have them in my contact list as "do not answer".

As the name suggests RUN !
Did one a long time ago, never got paid couldn't track down anyone. They went out of business, closed email accounts, turned off phones. Fortunately it was only 1 notarization for a rent application.

If you work for them, you won't be paid.

Thansk everyone for your help. I am new to this and appreciate all the responses. They won't be happy-but I will let them know I cannot do it. I told her in my response, that since that is showing as them being out of business, that they need to pay me prior to going by Paypal-she said I need to invoice them. I think I will reiterate the prior payment, or a nogo for me.

Sorry about that.
It is my shared belief that by doing the work after being paid up front keeps the offending company in business. You might want to rethink that.

Re: Sorry about that.
It also makes them pay me. And if others followed the same, then they wouldn't be stiffed. And would get the company back in good standing if they start paying. I don't know if they are the ones on here or not, they're stating they're not-that they're a different company, so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, by doing the work, but requiring payment up front. I think it's fair for both of us if I do that.

Charles, since you know them-then hopefully they'll understand my predicament. Always happy to do jobs for people--but I will always check the logs here for their ratings. And why on earth, would they chose the same name of a business filing bankrupcy?? That's what's bothering me.

How do you know they didn't have that name first? People choose business names for all kinds of reasons - and changing it isn't an easy undertaking. I get what you mean, though!

Many years ago, I worked for a company by that name.
They were located in Stevenson Ranch, CA. AFTER I did the job, they tried to bargain with me! Needless to say, I never worked for them again!
