Remote access software
With the possibility of my husband finally having a kidney transplant sometime in the near future I am trying to find the best way to access my computer at work to work from home while he is recuperating. Our computer guy suggested PC Anywhere (which he uses) and GoToMyPC which he hasn't used lately. Just wanted to get input to see if anyone has used GoToMyPC and does it work well?

Have used LogMeIn for quite a few years
Not only to access my own pc's, but in the past I used it to access my parent's so I could help resolve their issues. Pc issues, I mean Lol!
If all pc's are Windows 7 (as is the case for me, now), there is a Remote Access program built-in.

Re: Have used LogMeIn for quite a few years
Hi Renee,
I have contemplating the same thing. With Windows 7 can you use the home premium edition on both computers or do you need the upgraded Windows 7? If you can use the home premium do you happen to know any decent manuals I may get to set it up? Thank you in advance for any advice you may be able to give.
Take care sista!

Re: Have used LogMeIn for quite a few years
My mom's new pc is W7 Home Premium - it was a cake-walk. No time now to map it out for you, I Googled 'how to'. This much I remember - in Start, search for "Remote Assistance". The "Easy Connect" is ... the easiest way.
yes logmein.com - the FREE version.

I've also used LogMeIn for years and I've found that it works really well & it's free.

Both my husband and I have computers at the office and at home (4 altogether). We both use the free version of LogMeIn, and it works really well. It's simple, and you can have it run from either direction.

I also use LogMeIn quite often in my part-time job as an Operations Manager for a company of real estate investors. I am in Missouri and they are in Maryland, but I can access a computer within their office when I need to do so by using (free) LogMeIn. Whatever software is on the real computer is what you end up working with. It is aggravating because theirs is a really old and slow computer, so I only access it when I have no other option.

GoToMyPc is the most secure
I have been using GoToMyPc for many and years and found it to be the most secure and easiest to use. It is built by Citrix who has the best encryption around. If it's good enough for the Federal Reserve Bank, it's good enough for me. In another business that I have I insist that my clients subscribe to GTMP for training and maintenance. You can see the other computer screen on your screen and the person at the other end sees the same thing. I don't know if you can do that with Logmein. You can do that with pcAnywhere, but we found that GTMP is much better and faster.

Re: GoToMyPc is the most secure
Allan, I have found that even the free version of LogMeIn can be password protected to help with security. But their paid subscription has many of the same features as GoToMyPC. For those who want to do as the OP intends, my vote is for LogMeIn.

Hey Mary!! Like some of the others said, logmein.com That's what we use here at the office, the free version. It works well! Just thought I'd throw that in there too! - Anthony
