Surprised that no one posted about new Premier fees
and services. A couple of days ago I received an email from NotRot about some new products and services coming for Premier Members. One new thing is the new Premier Membership fee structure. It looks like it will now be the same fee for everyone and no longer based on how many premier notaries are already in your area:
Basic Membership: Free (no change) Premier Membership: $99, $89, $79
Initial Fee: $99 First Renewal: $89 Second and Subsequent Renewals: $79
The other products include various insurance products such as business insurance, and Notary E&O Insurance up to $2 Million in coverage.
But one really nice thing that caught my eye was that the fax service will support outbound faxes as of April 1st! YAY and THANK YOU!

Sorry, but what is fax service support?

Re: fax service support
Premier Members may have a free inbound fax number. It was only for inbound faxes and not outbound. As of April 1st it will also support outbound faxes (I assume that you must be able to scan and attach the file as a pdf).

Means instead of just being able to RECEIVE faxes through NR, as of 4/1 you can now SEND them
I thought the e-mail was pretty clear

It was, Linda, unless you were unaware that NotRot provides fax service, as I suspect may have been true of the original poster.
Harry just keeps churning this stuff out. Pretty soon, he's going to have a NotRot program that washes our cars and picks up our groceries. Harry is my bud. I want him by my side if I ever get in a barroom brawl...matbe I should say, the next time I get in a barroom brawl.

The good thing is that the premier membership fee structure
is now uniform across the board - for me, that fee went from $139 to $99.

That's unfortunate. It won't be worth it for me at that price so I'll just drop to regular membership. The value for me is in the non-pay company alerts as the site doesn't bring in business for me. If the site brought in business, I would rethink this.

I have gotten business from NotRot free listing
Not a lot, but definitely enough to make me think about what I could get if I were higher up on the list by paying for premier membership. It's on my list of things I want to pay for once I have the money.

Re: I have gotten business from NotRot free listing BUT
I have also gotten a LOT of "just shopping for someone willing to come to my home for free/peanuts" GNW work calls due to my NotRot listing, so that is why I haven't bought the Premier version yet. Not positive I want to get even more of those types of calls. They seem to think we should stop everything and come to their home for free, or at most for $5. Usually it is something the notary at their local bank would be willing to handle for them, but they don't want to have to drive to their bank and want someone instead to drive to their home, yet aren't willing to pay for the service. Sigh.

I have a good income and a long term successful practice. I keep it that way by making wise investments. I'll spend my $100 where I get the greatest ROI, thank you very much!

It isn't even $100 if returning premier member - $20 increase per year.

Complete surprise to me. I didn't get the email. I am glad
to see that the fees are the same across the board. Yes, we keep getting more services & should expect to pay more. IMO it's still a bargain compared to another well-known, but over-priced site. :-)

I have totally mixed feelings on the subject. I do like the fact that everyone will be paying the same. Mine will be going up. I have been a paying member since 2006. My main complaint is the fact that the non-paying notaries are benefiting without paying their fair share.
My feeling is that none of the basic (non-paying members should show up on the search unless all of the paid ones do. The list shows 50 matches. Why should number 26+ of the paid not show up in the 50. Why should 25 unpaid ones show up? I say either, show all of the paid ones first, or don't have any unpaid ones listed. I would be VERY ticked off if I paid $79 for a listing and didn't show up because only the first 25 paid ones do in a search, but yet there are 25 people who didn't pay do show up.
I am lucky enough that there aren't very many notaries in my area, so I would show up regardless if I were free or paid; however, lets spread the fairness. The fees are evening out to be more fair to everyone, how about abolishing the free listings? Notary Rotary isn't benefiting by making any money off them and the paying notaries aren't benefiting by not being listed if there are at least 25 non-paying (basic) notaries in their area.
Notary Rotary is the best Website for finding notaries, supplies, and many of the new benefits available; however, the main reason the site here is for finding notaries. Lets show the paying members first. MHO

email from Not Rot stated to lock in costs for several years at (our) current rate, does that mean the new rate of $79 or the rate $59 we paid before?
|
Reply by jba/fl on 2/16/12 6:08pm Msg #412008
I took it to mean old rate for payment in advance for however many years you desire to purchase now. Do you feel lucky that you will live another 10 years and be doing this job for another 10 years? Send $590 now.
