UPS STORE
Here's a first for me. I accepted a signing from a signing co. and they sent me 3pages of confirmation. Read those while printing the docs. After printing 1st se i notice there where more confirmation info. Did the signing at that went smooth. Had 2 pages of fax back requests. Called signing co. to find out just what they wanted. Went to UPS STORE to drop off documents. Was told seeing there was a client acct. # they could NOT except package. I would have to go to the main terminal. Forget what I said. So I found a small package store that did shipping and they excepted it. Hard to belive UPS STORE would not accept package

Had them tell me the same thing. I got a hold of the UPS forms to bill to an account and now I can drop them off at my local UPS. It was a matter of them having the forms on hand.

Same thing happened to me. The law office gave me their acct information so I asked for a shipping label to complete. They said they don't do that anymore and could not accept the acct number that was given to me. In fustration I left and dropped at a UPS drop box that had 1 shipping label left for me to fill out!!!

This is wrong, wrong, wrong.
UPS has ALWAYS been worse than DHL.

Tell your client you need a label, they should send you one.
I have more problems these days getting anyone to take the packages without preprinted labels. I tell my clients I need to have labels or I will be having problems. Haven't had anyone turn me down yet. They know of these problems but need to be reminded.

I should have said all shipping companies
I have more problems with FedEx these days not wanting to take handwritten labels, not just UPS. I ask all clients for preprinted labels.

I am having problems getting UPS supplies!
I have an online account, but UPS keep restricting it since I do no generate any labels on it myself. Last week I called and ordered supplies over the phone - explained why I need them and the nature of this business and how I receive pre-printed labels from my clients. They took my phone order but the supplies have not shown up. I am down to my last couple of legal size envelopes.
I do not have this problem with FedEx! They allow me to order online and yes they call me asking why I need them (due to the low activity on my account) but after I explain they send the supplies promptly!

Just go to the nearest UPS dropbox!
Once I had a visit from UPS security. I ordered airbills. Apparently what they sent me was preprinted, prepaid airbills! I opened the package in front of the security guy and gave them to him!

In my area, dropboxes do not stock legal sized envelopes or
even the plastic paks. I have always managed before to somehow, someway order supplies either online by opening a new account, or over the phone. But not this time. Online ordering says "Order Supplies is currently unavailable. Please try again later." However it never becomes available. Can't believe they make it so hard to ship with them.

The one I go to is outside a TC.
You may have to stake out other dropboxes in your travels.

Look for a store in your area that has mailboxes and shipping sevices for UPS and Fed Ex. I have one in my are that is called overland express and the give me all the supplies I need.

Use two letter size ones, put docs in one and put to other
envelope over the other end. Have one sticky strip on one side and one on the other. then put the plastic sleeve on. Or turn a fed ex ti-vec envelope inside out and attach the plastic sleeve.

Same thing happened to me!
I have ordered supplies 3 times and they have never come. The drop boxes stock the large packs and letter size cardboard envelopes, but I want the legal size envelopes with the pouch attached.

Open your own UPS & FedEx account
If you have your own UPS and FedEx accounts, you can print your own labels using the recipients account number and get all the supplies you need delivered to your office. I've had the accounts for years and never had a problem. I have never been billed by them for a recipient not paying a bill.

I have had a chargeback before so I am not willing to generate the airbills on my account.

Re: Request airbill be emailed to you along with docs
Lisa, that doesn't help get the packaging. If we could use our own packaging/envelopes, an airbill from the client could be a solution. I, too, have had problems obtaining the legal-size envelopes. What is the consensus of using our own envelopes?

Re: Request airbill be emailed to you along with docs
From the OP: <<<Was told seeing there was a client acct. # they could NOT except package.>>>
I understood that to mean that the package wasn't accepted because of the LABEL (emphasis on client acct. #)....not the package the docs were contained in.
My guess is that with so much shipping fraud, and some using a business' account number without authorization, a preprinted airbill generated from the business itself may be more trustworthy/legitimate to the UPS Store.
Yes, I have a few backup envelopes I bought at Walmart - used them for exceptionally large doc packages or when the UPS Store was out of envelopes.

Go to a large office building in your downtown area
They probably have a central mail room for the building's offices. UPS & FedEx usually have tons of supplies in them that are for the community. Since you are part of the overall larger community, help yourself.
Or just get an account with the two companies to order supplies, but not labels. The client/customer should give you a label with their docs. More and more, I think they are expecting to have to do so.
