It's the title companies that you need to contact not the lenders. The TC's handle the closings.

Both of the previous posts are absolutely correct. I went into signing central, organized the companies by their ratings, and emailed or called every 5, 4.5, 4 and 3.5 star company and told them who I was, how many closings and other notary related business transactions I've handled, what my fee was based on mileage and such, and waited to hear back.

Do what the rest of us have done

... your own homework.

Re: Do what the rest of us have done

Even though I am still new, I agree with the others. You have to do your research. You have to read the forums. Nobody here will give you anything on a silver platter; it's business. Nobody is going to give you their best client list, or their "best practice" list; you have to figure that out for yourself. You have to learn what you're worth, and what works best for you.
I teach my kids that the only way you'll appreciate something is if you work hard to get it and work hard to keep it. Otherwise it means nothing.
You'll learn through trial and error. You have joined Notary Rotary, and that's one big step on your way to success. From the previous posts, you have been given the answer. Now you just need to do your own homework. None of this is meant to hurt your feelings or discourage you, but it truly is the best advice I (as a newbie myself) can give.

Yes, we know the best way to get in touch with them. read this forum from day 1 and maybe you can figure it out.
Hint: you have already been told the best way in this thread.

Unless you are willing to be "independent" and do your own legwork you are not going to be successful - in this business or any other.

Marketing your services is a huge part of this biz. Thanks

to other notaries who share experiences with a particular company, Signing Central is a good place to start. Other than that, investing in listings on the major websites like Notary Rotary is important, IMO.
Be sure to like your profile, so your name appears when you post on the forum & can be linked.

You can't take all this personally, Andrea. This is a highly competitive biz, and some of the seasoned notaries who frequent this forum know that "newbies" show up, many recently sold on the profession by a national organization, and don't have a clue.
This is a great forum to follow & learn from. I learn something new every day. :-)

In answer...two words...yes really..

If you follow this forum you're going to be amazed at how many people come here looking for the silver platter. Many want to do their homework and their own legwork - just as many, or more, don't. I'm thinking someone out there is telling new notaries that this is a great way to make a full-time lucrative income and "just go to Notary Rotary" to find out how.

Stick around....you'll see....yes, really.

Andrea,

The best place to start by far is Signing Central. Hundreds of SS and TC are listed. Go through the list and sign up with as many good ones that you can. That will keep you busy for a while.

Signing Central is one of the blue tabs at the top of the page. In order to see everything in Signing Central you must be signed in. As another poster pointed out, you can sort the list by the number of stars, which is the rating system. Once you click on a company's name, information about them will come up as well as a way to contact them. Some companies have an application form on their website and some have a phone number to call.

This feature is only available for premium members. If you have a free listing, you cannot do that.
