has ever had their notary stamp fraudelently copied?

I received a call yesterday from a B of A person asking me if I had notarized a document in January for so and so...the questions were strange so I asked the man to fax me the document he was talking about. The notary stamp looks copied, the name is mine, but without my middle initial (which IS on my stamp...the commission exp. date the same as mine, the comm. number different but looks hand written). Definitely not my signature and the acknowledgement is not filled out correctly. I am the only oregon notary with this name and I feel sure this document is forged. The B of A person felt it was very suspicious but apparently the county recorded the document (it is a Grant Deed). He said they (B of A) aren't pursueing it because for their purposes, they have a signed and notarized document but he thought it was odd and wanted to ask me about it. I did verify the number he called from to make sure he was from B of A.

I will call the Oregon commission on Monday a.m. and also the recording county office in CA. But just wondering, has this happened to anyone? If so...what did you do about it other than what I am planning to do.

That doesn't make any sense... if someone at BofA suspected a forged notarization, you'd think they'd be all over that, especially if it's something where a customer could later come back and claim identity theft or forgery with.

I know if someone if forging MY seal I'm on that

and don't let up til they catch the person...this is criminal and very dangerous for you, the notary.

Wow...good luck.

Oh yes...I'm on it

I will post back to let you know the result but I am taking this VERY seriously and plan to contact ALL parties including county, prosecuting attorney's office, oregon commission, etc. What I HAVE found out is that the couple "deeding" the property are elderly and this document adds their "in home caregiver" to the title.

Unbelievable......

Ooooo.... and BofA was OK with this, huh? Please do let us know how this shakes out.
It surely does raise eyebrows.

Smells like elder abuse to me!

And B of A was ok with this?
