printer issues
I have a HP P2015d that has been a work horse for me. Recently it has been printing very slowly. Sometimes it will print a page, pause, print a page . . . I had a reputable printer technician look at it. The only thing that he could find or even think of was to get a memory card. I did that, it's installed, and I am still having problems. HP is of no support (printer no longer under warranty). I might add that I recently had to get a new Toshiba laptop with Windows 7. But on Microsoft's page it states that this printer and Windows7 are compatible. Any ideas?? Many thanks for your time.

Not a clue, but, if you ever find out what the problem is, let me know. Same issue, different hp printer that I've used for years with no issues. Suddenly--it's slow as you described--AFTER my technician updated 'a lot of things'.
I am beginning to believe that a driver was updated and that was not a good thing to do. Admittedly, know nothing, but that's the only thing that I can think of that's 'new, different' now.
No clue how to go back to old driver or if that's even possible, but if it is possible, don't know what driver I had. Nor do I know for sure that's the problem.

It's been a while since I had an HP printer, but I used to have to go to the HP website & check for driver & firmware updates. You might try that. :-)

Try changing your print quality to the lowest setting and see if that speeds up the PPM?

Patti,
I had the same problem with my brother printer. I had my computer guy pick up my computer and clean it up, he said it was full of junk. I don't know if that will work or not as I just got it back from him. I don't think the problem is with your printer, I think it's with your computer.
Try uninstalling the printer drivers and reinstalling following the directions for instillation.

Tech support can be expensive, and spending $ on a used printer replacing a part leaves you with an old printer with a new part, which may not solve the issue. You may consider a refurbished HP Laserjet office duty printer. They have been serviced, parts replaced, and are much less expensive and heavier than printers sold to the public for home use.
You can find a 4350 TN for about $500 on Ebay & by searching. It has 2 drawers, prints about 50 wpm, and is rated for 250000 pages per month. Older models are less but do not have USB connections, so you should consider compatibility with your computer.

It's not my printer because it works with my laptop.

Patti, go to the HP website and
download their version of drivers for Windows 7. I know that 7 comes with plug and play drivers, but sometimes things get lost when using the drivers that come with an operating system. Also be sure you know if you have 32 bit or 64 bit version of Windows 7.
Here's the link.

Patti, you some "sometimes.." Does it print OK other times? What no one mentioned is that if it's an on-again, off-again kind of problem, it might not be any of your equipment, but rather the way it was scanned. We used to hear that kind of complaint from time to time on this board about clients having scanned the docs incorrectly. It seems to happen less often (and I have no idea why), so maybe it's an old problem from equipment that isn't widely in use any more, but I thought it was at least worth mentioning.

This may sound crazy to techies, but here goes. I have a Windows XP and a Windows Vista laptops. My HP LaserJet 1320n would not work with Vista. I could not download the HP Toolbox. Each time I have to put a new cartridge in my HP 1320, I have to plug it into my XP, it shows 100% ink and then I can replug the HP 1320 into my Vista and no problems, prints like a champ.
I could not find any Drivers for the HP LaserJet 1320n that were compatible with my Vista. Even though my Vista is HP Windows Vista 64-bit.
Okay techies, any idea why this works? I figure it's one extra step to accomplish the job, but it works.

The 1320 series are of older design and it's doubtful hp can or will write a 64 bit driver. You might try the hp driver library to see if one exists.

You might try using the universal PCL5 driver, about 1/2 the way down the page.
That's why I always advise keeping your existing hardware and older programs that you might want to run when choosing a new computer and / or operating system. If you choose a 64 bit operating system, chances are you won't be able to run much that was designed or built before 2007.

Jam
I was reviewing the documentation, and it appears that the Universal Print driver will support 64 bit.

Re: printer issues the answer
Had the same issue. When the print screen comes up click Advanced (at the top). Then click on Print as Image. That solved my problem
