Another Web Notarization Saga
Ok just venting hear...
I receive a call from Puerto Rico requesting a web conferencing notarization. After politey and professionally explaining I may not do this (and won't do it - its just so wrong on multiple levels), the person on the other line gets huffy and puffy and can't understand why. The result: she states its ok she's called several other people in another state who will perform the notarization. Lady go right ahead I could careless; I won't jeopardize my commission. Lord help us for having notaries who are doing these illegal notarizations. Oye ve!
Ok I vented. I feel better now. =).
Everyone have a wonderful weekend!

Okay..now this raises other questions...
U.S. notary - international client - ID??
Wonder if the "international" aspect was considered when the VA legislators tossed this around.

Should be illegal. Just for kicks I checked this website, there is at least one PR notary listed zip 00978.

Re: It's a territory - wonder how it's treated under this new
Because of its Spanish heritage, Puerto Rico's notaries have the same general powers as civil law notaries in Latin America. Puerto Rico notaries must be lawyers (abogados).

You mean you checked NotRot?
I checked NotRot too - came up with 4 notaries listed for the zip code - all basic members in Oklahoma.

Let's go beyond international. How about extraterrestrial? Can an astronaut orbiting 230 miles above earth in the International Space Station get his document notarized via webcam using a Virginia notary?

Got to remember also: buyers (people calling for your services) are liars. They heard it on the 'internet'....

<<<....she states its ok she's called several other people in another state who will perform the notarization.>>>
Did you then ask her why she's calling YOU if the *other people in another state* are willing to perform the notarization? I've yet to get a decent answer as to why someone is calling ME if someone else already said they'd handle their notarization.
