First America Appointed/Approved - Trying to understand...
Hello!
I have done my due diligence and pressed the search button, but could not find an answer to my question. If there is a message that speaks to the below, my apology - and please direct me there!!
We have a client who has told us that our MD notaries/LTPs must also be First American approved/appointed. We thought we were clear on what that meant, and understood that this appointment included a document of "proof" which we could submit to our client along with our contracted notary/LTP's other information.
Today, we got an order for the same, and called many signing agents, who we know are experienced, good, full time agents. Many of them did not know what we meant or what it entailed, or were not FA approved. We had some who felt they were FA approved as they had done closings for FA before, but did not have supporting paperwork.
This has left us confused. Is there something we are missing about the FA approval process? Those of you who are approved, do you have documentation supporting this that you can use when you are hired for FA loans? We have, in the past, been able to support our signing agent's approval with a document, but the fact that SO many excellent closers told us no today when we called them makes us wonder if there is something we don't understand about the process and/or maybe even the wording.
Please help!

I went through the approval process earlier this year. Submitted all necessary documentation, etc. In March, I received an email with subject line of "Preferred Notary List of California" and the message simply stating: "You have been added to the list."

Hi, I'm a Maryland Settlement Agent with approval letters from everyone but FA. It was my understanding when working for US title companies they take care of obtaining the approval letters from the underwriters, which I have received. I know some agents have gone the extra mile and contacted the underwriters directly. If you have agents you use regularly why not give them the contact information and ask them to apply?
