The orange search button will be your best friend.

Pose that question there and you'll get some really awesome answers. Some you'll like, some you may not. But they all apply. Read and quench the thirst.

PS Unless you are in an area with little competition, do not expect for it to be easy. It doesn't happen like that. Sorry.

Also go to the top tab under "Find a Notary" and see how much competition you have. Do that at all these types of forums and that'll give you an idea of what to expect. The markets inundated in most areas with well established, highly experienced notaries. Don't expect much from reputable, paying companies (be very careful...some pay crapola, and worse, some steal your pay!!! Don't get suckered.)

Good luck. Sorry to be the one to call it like it is on your first answer. Hopefully you don't get slammed...lol

Going to add a few things here..

1. Complete your profile.
2. Contact companies in Signing Central
3. Set up an independent website separate from your HOA dedicated solely to your notary business - will look much more professional and will look like you really mean it.

Market market market....advertise advertise advertise

OK one step at a time

Step 1
In order to receive phone calls, you need phone service.

Welcome! Have you taken any notary signing agent certification classes? This is how I started out as I had zero knowledge of the notary signing agent job (my background was customer service and law). I studied and researched long and hard before accepting any mortgage assignments. I feel much more confident now after having experienced many signings.

I often review the certification material to refresh myself on the basics. Notary Talk, where you posted here on Notary Rotary, is the NEXT BEST resource for any and all subjects pertaining to this job. There is an orange search button to enter key words when you run into a situation that you need to be educated on. If you do not find the answer there, THEN AND ONLY THEN post your question under Notary Talk. There are a many experienced signing agents on this site that are willing to assist you, but only if you do the work first.

Best of luck to you!

"Notary Talk, where you posted here on Notary Rotary, is the NEXT BEST resource for any and all subjects pertaining to this job."

Which one do you consider the BEST..?

Re: I am new to the Notary Signing Game....I'm curious

Linda, this is what my post said, "I often review the certification material to refresh myself on the basics. Notary Talk, where you posted here on Notary Rotary, is the NEXT BEST resource . . ."

So to make it plainer, certification training first is BEST for learning the basics and for continued review. I meant this for the new person that initiated this discussion.

Sorry I wasn't clearer in my post!

Dude, I'm new to this game. Use the "search" feature on this forum and use keywords field and enter. It will save you a lot headaches being chastised by the members on this forum. Peace

First of all, this is not a game like jump rope. Secondly, if you have to ask that question, just fuggettaboudit and go to Burger King.
If you have to ask how to get phone calls, you are one sorry person.

Princeton, it takes time. When I started in 2005, I did it 'on the cheap' registered on the free sites and crossed my fingers. Sure I got some Signings, but not enough. Got a 'real' job and it didn't work out, so I'm back (hopefully for good). Unfortunately for me, I did not find Notary Talk until this time around, maybe if I had found it in '05 I'd been successful. It's let me know how much I don't know now, and I'm scouring SC and will be registering, and paying if need be, to get on the higher rated lists.

I suggest that you get some books and read up, follow all of the threads here, not just the ones that you think apply to you, no telling the golden nuggets that you'll pick up (I know I've picked up more than a few) .

Just a hint, don't ask for specifics here on doing this, we are all in business, whether new, getting back in, or old hats (or farts Smile ), and secrets are secrets and the pain learning then makes them not easily given away....

Hopefully this 'newbie' hasn't ticked anyone off... I've seen that it can be painful Big Smile

Nobody here is going to . . .

Nobody here is going to hand you a slice of their business on a silver platter. Wherever you live, you will be fighting for someone else's work and income. The way to "make your phone ring" is to call everyone on signing central. When I started 11 years ago, I didn't even know about NotaryRotary or signing central. I called everyone I could think of 8 hours a day for two months. Everyone told me no. It was two months before I got ONE job. And then I blew that one.

#1. Call everyone in Signing Central with lots of stars and good comments.
#2. Read every post here every day.
#3. When you are finished calling everyone on Signing Central, go back to the top and call them again.

Don't work for Sign on the X. They have burned EVERYONE, and prey on newbies like you.
