Re: Printing Mortgage Docs . . .
Whoops, hit the Return key before getting my question out there.
I print my docs about four hours before appointment time to allow for any updates in the system. I would appreciate feedback that this is a good practice or not.
Thanks.

Re: Printing Mortgage Docs . . .
If the appointment is made, I print as soon as I get the docs, I can go over them sooner, if I have the time. Send an email to the hiring party that you have printed them and to call if there is an update... printing fee covered, if they cancel before you go, you get the $$ for printing. Sometimes you have to have a couple of jobs in the car at the same time and will not have time to go back and print just to go out again to the same location. Sometimes you have to run from one side of town to the other, if you wait to print you can lose an extra appointment because you have to run to that printer to get docs. You can schedule a little tighter that way. I have had jobs that were within a couple of miles of each other and had to run and print just to get back to where I was in the first place. It just does not make sense to wait to print sometimes. I have not been burned too many times for it. Just what I do to make money, save time and save gas. But WTF do I know?

In today’s environment you are lucky if you get docs four hours in advance. I download and save as soon as the docs become available. I print an hour before I go, still I sometimes get last minute revisions.

I do the same as Les..I print as close to appointment time as I can..never know when a cancellation call will come! Of course it also depends on the client Im working for..and if I have other appointments..

Re: Printing Mortgage Docs . . .
I try to print them as soon as possible. If you put them off, anything could happen. You could get a last minute signing right before your scheduled and you want to be able to get to it. I have been running errands with all my docs in the car and the borrower calls and says, "Can you come over right now? Sure!
Also, what if you run into problems? What if your computer or your printer dies? You don't need that happening just before you start printing. The sooner you start printing the docs, the more time you have to work with if any problems arise.
Once in a while I have to shred a whole stack of docs because of a re-draw, but that is rare. Better safe than sorry.

Re: Printing Mortgage Docs . . .
That is totally true, that reminds me, I had a call tuesday for a last minute signing, (well couple hours in advance) I had literally just printed my docs, and my internet dropped. I was down for 2 days... that was awful, I thankfully had a family member not to far from me that I printed docs at her house (she had laser printer).. I had to do all legal tho. blah. My printer is way to big to haul back and forth. it weighs at least 50 pounds. lol. But man at least I got my last minute docs printed just in time.
