Docs to borrower, Yea right!

Got call 3 hrs before a closing that was 39 miles away. Borrower has docs so no waiting. Took the closing, called borrower and confirmed they had the docs. Confirmation says "Package will be sent directly to the borrower. You should go to the closing without any documents in hand." I drive 37 of the 39 miles and it is 10 minutes to appointment time when I get a call from the SS. We are sending over the docs now. What? Borrower has docs. No, borrower has wrong docs, can you go back to your office and print the new docs. No, that would require a 78 mile round trip and I have other closings to do. SS gets really mad, says they will get another notary and hangs up on me.

I think to myself: This closing is out in the middle of soybean and cornfield land. Good luck getting another notary. End of story, they call me today to reschedule for Friday. I added trip fee for yesterday to standard fee and they accepted.

You have to love it. One thing I have gotten in the habit of doing with these "out of the norm" jobs is make sure I have them email me the particular circumstances and how I get paid if there is a clitch. Or I send it to them and ask them to send back my email confirming. This is more so I can be sure we are both on the same page as far as understanding....

Glad it all worked out for you. though.
