Helpful Forum Tips

Would anyone else find it beneficial to have notary members "coded" by region (NE, South, Bay, etc.)? And also ability to view an entire thread - with all comments- without opening separate links? At times, it seems I'm following a Poirot mystery, getting lost in all the "characters!"

p.s. I'm assuming the color (orange) square designates membership levels (basic/free vs. paying); I'm more concerned about getting to "hear" the viewpoints of seasoned notaries in my area - and getting to know which postings to . . . (well, how do I say) "leave for leisure/amusement"

Are you looking at the forum in Linear View? If so, up above the posts, click on "Threaded" and you see all the threads rather than the individual comments.

If I'm seeing the right thing, the color square just means the poster's name is "linked" to their profile. When you post, right alongside your forum alias is a box "Add Link to my Profile" - if you check that we'll see an orange square next to you name too - and we'll be able to click on your name and read your profile.

Hope this helps...and apologies if I've totally misunderstood your entire post.. Smile

Re: Nope..orange box does not mean premie...

I think the way it works is that the blue underlining indicates there's a link to a profile, and if that linked profile belongs to a premier member, the orange box is added.

If there's no linked profile, the name is in black regardless of membership status.

Re: your comment about being coded by region, do I assume correctly you're talking about within each state? (The state of the poster is listed after their forum name.) If so, I would think that would be pretty tough for the owners of this board to do. Personally, I could provide some regions for use within the southern part of my state, but I wouldn't even know what to suggest for Northern California, let alone other states. I would think that would be an administrative nightmare for anyone to try to implement and manage.

Actually, your suggestion may be one of the reasons that so many here are so vocal about wanting other posters to link to their profiles.

hmmm . . . like a "buddy list" perhaps!
I really need to make time to get more familiar with the navigation/functionality of the site (frankly, I am trying not to get "put off" by some of the less "helpful" comments/posters here).

You can appreciate this is new for me; I've had some nice experiences with some other forums. And I have to agree it must be a BEAR to manage all this. I also appreciate the "fatigue" which must necessarily be faced by other viewers/readers, posters, etc. when less than "intelligent" posters routinely show their . . . well, . . . how do I say Total "ignorance" about an industry they've supposedly committed to invest themselves in! I mean we're all "public officers," right? Shouldn't our inquiries be more "developed"? Maybe then, the more experienced among us would feel it was worth reasonable, FCC-sanctioned responses. Well, I digress . . .

Storm/power woes in No. Virginia is melting my mind (fortunately I DO have power - just no internet at home). Family members, friends coming over to shower, sleep, cool off . . . Am I "digressing" again? See why we need a more dedicated area to Professional issues we can take seriously and respond to (if it's worthwhileSmile!

p.s. After this week, I may be in for more of a laugh after all ( I have a 3 pm signing, NO Docs from the title company and no clue when all will be back to normal after this "catastrophe of the east!"
