I have a different phone question...
A friend of mine is a realtor and like us NSA's she uses her cell phone quite a lot. Her problem is her hearing. She has hearing aids but she still has a lot of difficulty understanding conversations on her cell. She has had several close friends mention they are worried that she's losing it because her responses are often totally unrelated to the conversation. I spend a lot of time with her and I'm convinced it's more that she cannot understand because of the hearing loss. She uses a Droid. Does anybody out there have similar issues that you've been able to solve? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

There are a ton of headsets that one may buy that has a microphone in them and they are much better than hearing through the phone or the bluetooth earpiece. I prefer them over either and they leave you with hands-free.
I order 3-5 at a time because I they get worn out from wallowing around in my purse. They are LOUDER than any other way of hearing through the phone. At $5.35 a pair, they are a steal. Throw them away as they wear out. I think that these would help her a great deal.
My favorite type: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Hands-Stereo-Headset/dp/B0049Y2PIS/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1339895603&sr=1-1&keywords=earbuds+with+microphone

You are welcome.
This one has a control device that you can use to start and stop your music or other audio. I love it for listening to books through my phone. When these first came out they were $40. I wore ot 2 of them at that price. Now, they are everywhere.

She should contact her audiologist there are several ways the phone will go to her hearing aid. If she has telecoil and cell is hearing aid compatible it works well. Depending on her aids she could have add on that helps with phone. There are also several hearing aid settings that will help her. But she needs to see her audiologist.

See audiologist and get form from them
In CA, you can get the telecoil for free in most cases if hard of hearing.

LOL - When is the last time you tried to get a sr. to
an audiologist? My mom and her vintage boy toy would benefit greatly from hearing devices, but vanity overrides and they prefer shouting "WHAT???!!!" to each other and the world.

***vintage boy toy***
It is a bleak day for an OldePhart when one realizes even that superannuated descriptive will no longer apply.
