NREIS nonpayment resolution

NREIS ignored my phone calls, faxes and emails concerning past due payment for a closing in mid-March 2012. Finally, I filed a civil complaint with the District Magistrate in the borrower's jurisdiction. A hearing was scheduled for today (June 13, 2012). Several days ago, an attorney for NREIS (Kelly Mancini) phoned to discuss settlement. I agreed to reimbursement of the amount invoiced plus the fee I paid for filing the paperwork.

Their lack of communication, failure to pay, and now using other companies as a shield are strong indicators that NREIS may be about to disappear off our radar screen. I hope my success will encourage other notaries public who are waiting for payment from NREIS to avail themselves of magistrates (or whatever small claims courts are utilized in their states). Finally, insist that NREIS pay by certified check!

We shouldn't have to go to that extent just to get paid for the work we do. Yikes! If I were you, I may have asked for more just for the trouble.
By the way, I love the name! "Seals on Wheels"

Last year ownership o0f NREIS changed. It went from being a good company that paid timely to a company owned by investors who are just looking for a quick buck. If you signed a new ondependent contractor agreement, then you should note that the terms changed from payment in 2 weeks to 90 days. I got this information from a nice employee who was in my mind embarassed at the way the new owners are handling things. I did get paid for my one signing that I did under the new ownership but I will not do business with them again. Who can wait 90 days for payment? Not me!

"Who can wait 90 days for payment?"

Evidently many as they are always posting here, esp. those saying, "I always get paid," or "I never have problems".

I don't understand blind loyalty to companies as they are always changing.

I finally got paid.

Legal shield sent an attorney's letter right away. They had the audacity to send a letter along with the check that said that I am now an NREIS Preferred Provider! I will not work for them. If feel that the handwriting is now on the wall! Also, be aware thjat they are now farming out jobs to signing services because no self respecting notary will work directly for them any more. Make sure that the SS knows your payment policy as some will not pay if they don't get paid!

Re: I finally got paid.

I just received that same letter re preferred provider with my check for 32 of the closing I was owed on. I am owed for more closing and will have to write back to the Exec VP that sent me the letter. LOL.

It is true that they are farming out to SS's. Those services are UDX (Universal Document), Angi Notary, Fieldchoice, and 2 more ( I have the names but cant locate the list right now). I will post under this same topic when I find it.

Re: I finally got paid.

I will never do another closing for them. They owe me from March. They used to be a good, timely paying company. I will never work for them again or anyone else they "farm" their work out to.
