Nice story - thanks for sharing. I esp. liked his last line: "“The essence of longevity,” he said with a smile, “is to be optimistic.”"

"I could perform weddings in Massachusetts"... no, he could

not. As a Maine notary he can perform weddings, but Massachusetts doesn't allow its notaries to perform marriages.

Is this supposed to make us feel sorry for him because he can't stay a Maine notary while living in another state? And he's only performed 34 weddings... I've performed over 75... and I've only been a notary since 2008.

Not to be a cynic, but I really don't see what is so special about this article or this notary.

OK, I have a question...

The man is blind and apparently has been for most of his 92 years. How does a blind notary check photo ID?
