Pa Surety Bond
I have been a notary since February. I got commissioned through PA Notary Academy. I have a paper that says $10,000 bond, but there aren't any numbers on it or a name of Bonding Company. I am pretty sure that the money I paid for course and commission was to include a bond and that I had to take that paper to courthouse to register it. Now I am signing up with some signing companies and they are asking me for bonding company and number. I don't have either. I am starting to wonder, if I am even bonded....How do I find this all out. I have been doing signings and notary work for a few months now. I called the Notary Academy and they do not return my calls or emails. Any advice or support would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

If there are no numbers or a name of a bonding company on your paper, then my guess would be that there is no bond.
You might send the SS that requests your bond a copy instead of the numbers.

The paper that you took to the courthouse included your completed bond or you would not have been sworn in and had your commission recorded. I always copy the bond prior to my recording so that I have it for any requests. Contact Notary Academy and ask if they will provide you with a copy of the bond. You may want to check out the Pennsylvania Association of Notaries for future reference and for your renewal package in four years. Their package is one of the most expensive, but they are always there for you. I just completed my seventh commission renewal through them and I recommend them to you. Best of luck.

Thank you so much Harry. I been searching for info on whether I am bonded or not, and didn't come up with anything. So, at least now I know I must have it if I am recorded and have commission. I am still pretty nervous that I am going to make a mistake, but want to do really well. And this, just freaked me out, just a little. Thanks.
