Servicelink background check
I sent in Servicelink's signup package, and was contacted by someone in vendor management that they will not accept my background report (Lexis nexis) because it has another title company's name on it. Does anyone know if it is possible to get a generic copy without the company name on it? I am not interested in paying for another one, as this one is only a year old.

Don't know, but
most companies require them to be a year or less. Its probably time to order another one anyway.

thought the standard was two years....
I have never had anyone complain. Not sure if Servicelink is worthy of my spending fifty bucks on a new one though. They call me occasionally, and they always seem to be a bit of a pain, if I remember correctly. The only reason I even bothered signing up is because they contacted me.

I don't know if there is a "standard"
However, the companies I deal with require 1 year or less. Service Link is a company I no longer work with. Last time I did, they provided the BGC with my approval, and on the paperwork I had, it specified yearly. But, that was a loooong time ago, when their fees and mine meshed.

I think you can contact LexisNexis and get an
"outline" (not what it's called but you get it) of your BGC - with no names - I got an abstract copy of mine with no names on it - I forget what they call it but search here - someone talked about it before.

You would think--
i called Lexis nexis with no luck, unless I want to pay for another one.
did all the searches before I posted this and came up with nothing.

you might try ACXIOM for background checks
ACXIOM (http://www.acxiom.com/) background checks will be used by both ServiceLink and NationalLink, and possible other Fidelity National Title business names if you send your file to ServiceLink directly.

This is....
the dumbest thing I've ever heard. They won't accept a BGC because another company's name is on it!!! What? That is beyond absurd. If they think they should have their own name on it, then they can pay for it!

Re: This is....
I agree 150% Lee. A background check is just that - a background check - it shouldn't matter who we used to have it done - just the fact that we DID have it done should be enough. The State in which you reside does a background check on you before they will commission you, then you pay another company to do the same thing - I just wonder what kind of kickbacks these companies get by telling someone they must use so&so. If a real thorough background check were done - it would be done like it was when I was in Navy Intelligence - the FBI actually did the check and I had to tell everyone I knew that if they got a call about me this is what it was about. I even had them contact my former sister-in-law whom I hadn't seen or talked to in over 20 years. She in turn called my parents to ask them what this was all about. Thank goodness I told my parents that if they got any calls about it to be sure and tell the caller what it was all about. Now THAT is a true background check!!!!!!!!

Re: This is....
I'm just going to white out the info about LSI (the company that requested I do this first) and then send the same copy to ServiceLink. It's absolutely ridiculous that Service Link is requesting this but equally frustrating that Lexis Nexis will not provide me a generic copy with out LSI's name on it. They said that LSI is their client and I told them LSI didn't pay for the BGC...I did. They didn't care.

I sent them my Lexis Nexus and got this...
...it's missing motor vehicle check, sex offender registry, & the OFAC check.
Rediculous, it's totally comprehensive and everyone else has accepted it. Not to mention CA notaries are automatically background checked.

Hi Roadie - I don't know if you found the background check you were looking for (that doesn't list any other company's name on it, but you can have your own background check done for $18 through the FBI. If you go to http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/background-checks/submitting-an-identification-record-request-to-the-fbi it has all of the instructions. It is fairly easy and no company has any basis for refusing it as it is the best background check you can provide. It is what I use and have never had any issue.
