What finanical software do you recommend?

I have been using Quicken for over 10 years. I like that it keeps track of all my categories, and I can run category reports at the end of the year for my taxes. (I can subtotal each signing service and then subtotal each job within the signing service by Notary fees and trip fees.) I really like how I can download all my banking transactions from the bank's website in a minute. Well, last month I was not able to download the banking transactions. I googled the problem and found out that I had an older version of Quicken, and in April, Quicken just discontined that feature, (so that I would have to buy a new one).

I went on line and I was going to download the newer version of Quicken and the reviews said it stunk. Now I want to get something else, but I don't have a clue as to what to do. I want something that downloads from the bank and just has a simple check register like Quicken. Since I have used Quicken since at least 2000, I don't even know what is out there.

What do you guys use?

Thanks! Smile

Quicken is still Quicken, not much different than the last few versions. I have been using Home and Business since early 80's. Still works fine for me. I have one file set up just to track invoices... very easy to do.

I love QuickBooks. Easy peasy, especially for tracking

receivables (our pay,) invoicing/statements, and if you're set up to legally charge interest, does that too. All pertinent reports for taxes, budgeting, loans, etc.

For a small business, you just can't beat it, in mho.

I use Quicken too

Double-entry bookeeping took some energy from me to learn, but I figured it out.

My number 1 reason for using Quicken though is that my CPA knows EXACTLY what to do with it when I turn taxes over to him. There's never guessing, calls for clarification, etc.

I just send him the "accountants copy" and he can go to town.

CJ, my bank has a dropdown list of methods to transfer info which includes Quicken, but other format options, like Excel and comma delimited. The latter often is easily transferred into other accounting software. Have you seen that?

I'm with Susan.

I was a full charge bookkeeper in one of my past lives.

Love my Quick Books. I use Quick Start and it works great. There is a Quick Books Pro if you need more options.
