Adobe printer settings help with Brother HL 5370DW and MAC

Hello All,

I use a HP laptop, vintage 2007 with Vista and a new MacBook Pro. If I recall, the MacBook Pro printer setting for Adobe used to show when you select print, "choose paper source by PDF page size". Now the screen looks almost exactly the same but it does not have the choose paper source by PDF paper size. I use a Brother HL-5370DW printer. I have gone through many areas of Adobe looking for how to change this and can't find it. I have a very old Dell and it also has the choose PDF paper size selection. Both the Mac and PC have Adobe X. This is an awful problem when needing to print a mixed paper size PDF. Sometimes the old full PC won't open large files or takes forever, the Mac won't print PDF source paper page size for the dual tray printer and the Dell won't recognize the printer. Of course it was a last minute loan signing and I was going crazy trying to print the correct size paper. Anyone know how to fix this? Thank you.

Not sure but you may want to update the brother driver from the website, sounds like a brother thing and not an adobe thing

I thought of that but wonder why the same version of Adobe can select PDF source size on an old PC using Vista software. I will try to see about updating the brother driver as I have never done that. I just looked on the internet for an answer to the problem but haven't found the answer yet.
Thank you for your thoughts though.

I had the same issue. I have a Brother 5250DN. I also have an Imac and a PC running Windows XP.
The driver for the mac os will not let you choose your paper with this printer. Brother does not make a software for the mac to let you choose your paper automatically. The same thing if you use Adobe X on windows. The only solution I found was to install my printer and attaching it to my PC only and using Adobe Reader 9.1 or 8. Do not use Adobe X. You can still down load a previous version from the Adobe website.

I don't think it's an adobe problem.

You might try deleting the printer and reinstalling the driver on your old Dell.

Also you can upgrade the memory on your Brother printer.

Upgrading the memory on my Brother solved my slow printing problems.

No version of the Mac OS will allow this option. It does not exist in the world of Mac, PERIOD. I wish it wasn't the case, but it is. Learned from personal experience and it was a painful and expensive lesson after converting my entire office to Mac then having to switch back to PC. Having to return $8000.00 worth of equipment because of this one little box to check that doesn't exist was frustrating beyond belief.

Only option is to run a virtual environment within Mac with a virtual software program but it is still tricky because the Mac OS Is the driver of the printing spool.
