Busy busy day

I had at least 9 phone calls today for today and tomorrow. I did 3 that were already booked and turned down the 3 for Saturday (I am teaching). Anyone else in California being "slammed with calls? Almost seemed like 2006 on EOM.

We are down to approx 162,000 notaries and maybe that is the issue?

Not in CA Joan, but for the first time in since 2001, I left last night without my cell phone, ON PURPOSE, 7 for today (checking out notrot while I print the last set) and then I'm on the run and I'm afraid to open my planner for mon and tues.

Just wish I was back in 2006 closing piggy backs @$225 a pop!

But what IS different is my radius is much smaller, I'll only go in my portions of my home county. Instead portions covering 5 counties. Gas is just too much and they are not paying what they used to.

Same here

So far I have 4 for Monday, but only because EVERYONE wants 5 - 7:30 pm. Had a call earlier today for same time area and when I told her I was booked solid for late afternoon, evening, she asked, "what do you have available on Mon?" When I told her, she was going to call bwr to see if they could fit into MY SCHEDULE!

The biggest problem I have is I had gotten used to having free time and I'm having trouble getting back into the yoke of working a full time job (absolutely, I AM NOT complaining). Kind of understand why some employers in this economy have a "If you're not employed, do not apply" rule. It's very easy to get out of the groove of working on a daily basis and if you've been on unemployment for over a year or so, very difficult to put that "working" hat back on. (This is NOT political, just a realization from having been in a similar situation and understanding the reality of it. Didn't say it was fair).

I had 12 signings yesterday from 8 to 8, all refi's. I turned away as many. If only I could clone myself. I turned away work from JNT for one, who I know does not pay its notaries. After 12 years in this business, I've learned to dodge most bullets. Looks like rain. Good weekend for cleaning out drawers and closets. Got my taxes prepared for 2011 last weekend. Will purge office files. I'm already booking for next week, another solid week due to month end.

How in the world do you do 12 signings in one day. I've never done that many and don't think I could. When did you print out the packages and when did you eat?

Vitamins, oatmeal with blueberries and wheatgerm and strong coffee get me out the door. Apples and almonds during the day. Homemade soup at noon from Whole Foods across the street, 15 minute lunch. Three back2back at one location, drive to client 1 mile away, then auction at 1pm, two files revert to bene and two postpone for 30 days. Back to title, four more, each 30-45 minutes because they are WF refis. Drive to CALM, edocs, large package, but takes only 30 minutes, four back to back at borrowers homes all within 3 mile radius of my office. Done at 9pm for broccoli and bison dinner, glass of merlot. Stay up to complete invoicing and book work for the week, crash at mdnight, sleep in til 7am for two days off. It's a pajama weekend, except that I have a deed in lieu of in a nearby town t 1pm, then I'll visit a nearly nursery and pickup some more olive trees for my growing grove.

Next week will be eventful too. Exercise, good food, solid sleep, and lots of blessings. Don't forget, I've been doing this for 12 years solid except for rocky loan implosion over a few years. I had a seamless day yesterday. Everyone was happy wih their loans at great new rates. No surprises, which makes things go very smoothly, and no one was late for their appt! Some days go way better than others.

To 101

I'm also curious how to you 12 in 12 hours. I also eat a healthy, high engergy diet and pack my food for the whole day, but my experience is that it take 1 hour to sign (if everyone is cooperating) and 1/2 hour to drive to the next spot. Do you sign in less than an hour? Or do you all of your borrowers live next door to each other?

Re: To 101

Rarely do my signings take an hour. I try to allow 45 minutes at the most. The only time it takes me an hour is if there are more than two signers, they have never seen their closing statement or if it is a purchase/first time buyer.

If you show the note and HUD first and get thru these, explain the RTC period, everyone is pretty on board.

My signings were all within a five mile radius of my office. As I said, everyone was on time, I always call and tell the borrowers I'm on my way and make sure they have copies of their DL's if required.

Organization and being in charge and on a mission is my modus operandi. I had a pretty lucky day, 11 of the packages were smaller. Only one was a brokered loan which means a lot of redundancy in the package. I also like the time change which allows me to work longer in the light. Finding home addresses is easier in the day time. 7 of my signings were back to back in the same location.

It has been busy for me since the first of the year and I am enjoying it. I love doing this for a living but was not enjoying the starvation of last year. Good to be busy again sand hope it keeps up!

Sooo happy to have been busy all week through Saturday. I hated having to turn down work for some of the better companies I work with....but was booked solid! Hope this continues in the months to come!
