I got the same email. It sounds like they want to add you to their data base. It said that it is free, but I wonder.

They say it's free, but they want to sell you DVDs and other
resources. You find a myriad of companies like this popping up, so to speak. Most are using data mining techniques to acquire our information.

I'd beware. Google has no phone/email/address for them and they've been registered since 2010. Here's what I found in a quickie search...
http://www.corporationwiki.com/Florida/Clearwater/prismatic-partners-llc/36345302.aspx Go to the link. Corporate WIKI has them owned by Prismatic Partners. No website, email, phone, address...hmmmmm

I received it too. No charge to be listed as a notary as long as you are available for real estate closings. They state that they are marketing to title companies and will charge the title companies to access the database. As long as there is no charge to me, I will complete the listing information.

Re: I did Why not
It is free to join but to upgrade it is 9.99 annually which of course will put you further up on the totem pole.

I got the email, but was suspicious because it was sent to an email address that I haven't used for my notary business in years....and I don't think I have ever used it for other "notary registries" which is where the email states they got my information.... I also didn't click the link and tried accessing my information directly thru their website, but I don't know my password...

I think that is if you want to create a password.
I didn't need one to get started.

Their entire proposal sounds like just another scam deal that’s mostly BS. Remember the SS’s (or “middleman”) costs the Title Company exactly NOTNING. Their fees (and ours) are almost always paid for by the borrower/seller. If they use a SS it’s generally for convenience.( So they don’t have to schedule an appointment, follow up, email docs, follow up, speak with the borrower, check with the notary to see if the signing was completed, track the packages, and cut and mail out a couple of hundred checks a month.) Those Title companies that do their own scheduling already have a data base of notaries they use, and people to do the job. So WHY would they PAY these guys to a fee to let them do what they are doing now? I did not sign up FREE or not. I get enough junk mail now and don’t need to be on another sucker list. JMO

"Les Co," I suspect you work for or have an interest in a SS. You defend them passionately while many of us notaries are quite tired of dealing with them. Also, you are wrong on who pays my fees and the SS fees (if one is used). In many states it is illegal to charge the borrower the notary fee, and for those states where it is allowed, the title company will almost always cut the checks to the signing service one closing at a time - one check at a time. So when you type: "so they [the title company] don't have to...cut and mail out a couple of hundred checks a month" as a part of the sale/benefit for using your SS it just sounds like you defending your SS.
Is this Direct Closers company legit, who knows. I updated my profile. We'll see.

I actually love the way Kris at KC Signings treated me. When I was contacted about Direct Closers, I had no problem signing up with them. They also offer a certification course as well, just my own thought it is well worth it. I worked for a settlement company and title company when I lived in NY, but this course was great for brushing up. I would recommend them to everyone.

Have done two jobs for them. Great to work with, all docs and forms to sign in and close online. Pay within 7 days of job completion. Will work with them again!
