Does Illinois property need witnesses on the Mortgage

Have a closing on Chicago 2nd home property today. Notice witness lines on bottom of signature page. In Oklahoma, we don't need witnesses. Will Illinois reject without witnesses?

But.....

I recently had a James B Nutter signing, (the last I will ever take). They required witnesses even though Illinois does not. Borrower was upset about it and it took an extra 20 minutes to get people over.

Sometimes the hiring party has extra and necessary requirements.

Re: But.....

I've done several JB Nutter loans and they are different, but have never had them require a witness. Is this maybe the Cook County requirement??? I'm down south and no, no witness required.

Re: But.....

This one had nothing to do with the county, I called to confirm they wanted two witnesses in Illinois, even though Illinois was not a witness state. They didn't call me back until I was around the corner 5 minutes away, I told them the borrower stated she could not find witnesses on such short notice they didn't care, they wanted them anyway.

Re: But.....

Definitely not a Cook County requirement. You must call your lender or TC to check.

Re: But.....

I did a Nutter loan a while back through Vantage Point Title, and received those same instructions. Borrower said he didn't have anyone to be a witness. I called TC and they said, "Virginia is not a witness state, so you don't need them." Well DUH! I was only trying to follow their directions that they sent with the package!

Re: But.....

I, also just did a closing for Vantage Point, here in IL. Did not need a witness. Nothing was in my instructions to do so....

Re: But.....

Had one in California (which is a non witness state) but was being recorded in Georgia. Lender required one. BO didn't have anyone, I suggested a neighbor but BO didn't want his neighbors knowing his business. ( This was a rental property) Service calls me and wants to know if I would sign as the witness but put down a different name!
Apparently, BO suggested this! I told her that this is illegal and unethical and how could she ask me such a thing? Anyway, told her to get someon else.
