Genuine Title got me
So I was driving one day and the phone rang. I couldn't understand the young lady when she said the companies name. When I arrived at my residence I found out that I had accepted a job from Genuine Title. I am now on the telephone hitting redial every 40 seconds and have filed a BBB complaint against this company and the Federal Credit Union that hired them.
I feel if I complain to the hiring party and draw them into this I will no longer have to deal with non paying companies like this and just maybe they'll come straight to me. If not, oh well, maybe they just won't contact me ever again. I'm begging ever one out there to not take assignments from this company.

But they do pay.....eventually and only if you scream loud enough!
There has got to be some nepotism involved with these hiring parties who still continue to use deadbeats with no regards for their own reputations. What other explanation could there be???

Well, the fact that I've gotten him to remove his phone for a busy signal is a sign. Is that considered screaming loud enough?

I'm NOT fusing with you an this. But a suggestion I use. When I'm driving, I state I'm driving and ask for time to pull over to a stop so I cal talk. When stopped, I start the conversation over from the begining.

You can always turn the job back to a company after you receive the confirmation and discover they are a non-payer. If it were me, I would contact the state regulatory agency for Genuine Title - the Maryland Insurance Administration - and file a complaint against the registered responsible licensees for failure to fulfill contractual obligations in a real estate transaction.

Be sure to rate Genuine Title in Signing Central.

your post is somewhat confusing...are you saying you
closed for GT, then didn't get paid? If so, kudos to you for calling the BBB and their client. They should be reported and their hiring party needs to know about their bad rep which could come back to haunt the credit union.
Or are you saying they called, and you later found out about their "deadbeat status" then called the BBB, etc.?
If this is your, then I think you stepped ahead of yourself, when all you had to do was check them out FIRST here in SC, then call back or shoot an email rejecting the closing based on their rep, and cc'd the credit union. The credit union may have appreciated your honesty.
But am not sure if this is what you're saying??

They called me while I was on the way home. I accepted offer from them not knowing it was GT. Driving on a two lane road with no shoulder (rural Va). I didn't realize it was them until later when I opened email. I did not turn it back (probably should have).
I conducted the signing without issues. I have not gotten paid to date. I have filed a complaint with the BBB in Md. I contacted Emery Federal Credit Union and they say it is GT's problem not theirs. So, I filed a BBB complaint in Az about EFCU.

The BBB is completely useless...
I'm not sure why people still think that the BBB will help? It's only of any use when the company is a MEMBER of the BBB. The BBB is a private company, not a government entity. They have no authority at all.

Marion is right on.
The BBB is a meber organization. If you want to display the BBB torch, it's a premier membership!

My advise....you could have still cancelled the appointment. Sent them an email saying you were cancelling it and then call BO and say the appt had been cancelled. OR you could have called the lender directly and worked something out with them if they wanted to continue forward with the signing.
Now you are stuck with trying to get payment. Goodluck!

It is my opinion that any company who hires a commissioned officer of the state to facilitate a loan closing then refuses to pay is teetering on loan fraud. Any time that I have had to chase my money I advise all parties of my opinion and payment has always been made promptly.
