Help on Brother 5370 DWT printer

I bought this printer a couple of months ago because of all the good comments here on NR. I am having trouble getting it to print the whole pkg. It starts out fine, prints about 20 pages and then stops. I have tried adding memory to it and readjusting the drawers, making sure paper drawers are full and pushed in all the way. I have tried turning it on and off. Nothing works. Does anyone else have this problem or best yet, a solution to this problem.

It does pull the correct size paper since it has two drawers and I have one designated for letter and one for legal.

Hopefully someone here will give you a better answer. I had this issue a couple of times with my 5340 and both times it was with the same company. I suspected it had something to do with the way they sent the docs to me. I hit start when the printer stopped and it printed 30 more pages and stopped again. I just hit start again. It was frustrating, it was a while ago, sorry I don't remember the company.

As far as I know it depends upon the .pdf file. Some print straight thru and some cause it to stop printing, sometimes 4 or 5 times, always in the same place within the .pdf. I tried looking up why this happens but couldn't find an answer.

Mine also stops printing when a paper tray is still about 1/3 full and the "paper" light goes on that indicates a tray is empty, so the first thing I do is check the trays and add paper.

One other issue and how to resolve it: The toner cartridge sensor is programmed to show "empty" when there is lots left, it is based on page count instead of how much toner was actually used. When this happens the printer will not print without a new cartridge! You can get around this purposeful "mistake" by putting black tape on the sensor hole on the cartridge. This hole is on the right side of the cartridge (as you pull it out) and looks like a porthole on a ship. It will work for MANY more pages with the sensor disabled. You just have to be careful to watch for pages coming out faded and then replace the toner when that begins to happen.

It will also stop when a page has been scanned in as an oddball size, hit start and it will print and continue to print unless another page is scanned in wrong. Hit start and it will go.

As mentioned, a large majority of printing issues have to do with the manner in which the documents were sent to you. This happens when .pdf documents are scanned in as images instead of text. This is completely beyond your control.

I do have one suggestion. Not exactly sure what will come up when you do this, but here is a general description. Go into control panel, choose printers, right click on your printer, choose properties. This is where ie may differ. On my brother, I go to advanced. Make sure "spool documents" or something similar is checked, and also make sure the "start printing immediately' is checked. This will allow your computer memory to act as a buffer. Of course, if it is checked, then that's all I got. I am falling behind on technology because I haven't replaced anything lately, so perhaps someone else has a better suggestion.

Good Luck.

All of this has been helpful. I appreciate it. These are quicken loan docs that do this, which makes it very frustrating because they are such small pkgs. But they also send legal seperate and letter seperate pdf docs along with the whole pkg.

I am beginning to believe it is just Quicken docs are docs put together like quicken. Quicken is the only one I have had trouble with.

You guys are great. So now I don't believe it is my printer.
