Instructions from TC

I just accepted a closing from a large national TC that many of us work with daily. I was told not to be late to the appointment; but if I am running late to be sure to call the borrower and TC and advise. I was also told not to change the appointment time.

I was thinking to myself that if the docs are on time, then I will be on time! .... But I didn't say it! I am rarely late and I never change the appointment time unless the borrower requests a different time when I call to confirm. If I'm late it's almost always due to late docs. These must be issues they are experiencing with notaries if the TC feels the need to mention this on the assignment call.

I change the appt when the BO request a more convenient time. Most times I hear they are told to be at their home at a certain time. And sometimes thats difficult especially if you get off work at 5pm and supposed to be at the table at 6pm. We all know how Northern Virginia traffic can be unpredictable.

What I usually hear, especially with borrowers from this TC, is that the lender chose the day but asked the borrowers what time they want to set the appointment for. They tell them to choose a time between 9 AM and 9 PM.

I had instructions today that said if I was going to be even 2 mins. late I was to call them and let them know....I had to chuckle for the same reasons you did, although I did get my docs early so I was able to be early too. BO saw me out front at 15 mins. early and waved me on in....

The hypocrasy of that always gets me too. I think we

need to remember that there are those notaries that show up "whenever", hours late, don't call, etc. & sometimes don't show up at all. I personally hate all the babysitting & being treated like a child. I try hard not to take any of it personally. :-)

CopperheadVA, I bet I can guess which TC you are referring to? If its who I think it is, I do closings exclusively for them and they tell me that all the time. hahaha, I am never late, always early, and in fact I do 90%of my closings in their office. Hahahaha

I had gotten a call from the TC asking me if I was going to be on time for the closing.
I told them I was sitting in front of their home.
I was about 15 minutes early.
They then told me it was un-belivable. I asked why?
I was told that everyone is always late.
Funny, I try to always be early.
I then said that prehaps they should always call me.
