Last minute "open" signing on Saturday

Got a call from SS at 1:45 PM Saturday ( as I am lunching with family for my mom's birthday). Asked if I could do an "open signing" that day. Scheduler said it's only 17 miles from me. I reminded her that my physical zip code is 45 miles from the signing. I said I could do it for $xxx. Her reply was my fee was unreasonable. Glad I didn't get it. Last minute signings always a PITA and probably wouldn't be able to reach title or LO if things went awry. It's a SS who have some favorable reviews in SC, but they never meet my fee.

Don't you just love it when they tell YOU how far someplace is. I figured it out - they just put in a zip code - from and then one - to and surmise that is how far it is. I had that same thing happen to me and when I told her wait just a minute, give me the physical address and I will tell you exactly how far it is - was she ever surprised that I figured out how they "came about" the "mileage".
