Monoprice toner cartridges--NOT
Ordered a bunch last August. They each printed about 150 pages and then started printing horizontal lines 3 times evenly spaced down the page. Returned 'em for replacement. Also ordered some elsewhere as this return/replace looked like it was going to be an ordeal.
Used some of the ones ordered elsewhere and just got into 1st replacement and it has a different problem. After less than 150 pages printed, it's simply blowing away the left side of a page and right side is printing so light you can barely read it. Other cartridges from other companies are printing OK so it's not the printer.

You will probably see some mixed opinions of dealers selling refurbished or off brand cartridges. However, I have been buying from LD products for 6-7 years. They always have free shipping as well as a 10% discount code. I also have tried some others that were a little cheaper but almost always with disastrous results, the kind of which you have had. I aslo buy the extended cartridges and almost always get close to the 7000 pages they advertise.

For the most part I have had good luck with Monoprice. Had an issue with one cartridge where the pull tab strip broke off inside the cartridge, and they did take care of it promptly. I've tried other suppliers including LD Products, Amazon, and Private Abacus with mixed results. I ordered from LD for a long while but then they began having issues. I'm not sure if any one supplier is always going to be consistently good. It's frustrating to be sure!

Now see, I've not had a good experience with any of the
refurbished/compatible cartridges/sites. They tend to leak all over, not provide what they state and I've just had too many issues.
I prefer E-Bay or Amazon, I get unopened, new EOM's for a great price.

I tried Monoprice last time and they seemed to work OK except for one significant issue. I didn't get any warning from my printer when it's started to run out of toner, just poorly printed pages that I had to toss and reprint. Usually the display will start showing a notice to order a new cartridge when it estimates there's approximately 700 pages left. Then I can shake it up and get several more packages printed.
Have you had that problem, CopperheadVA? (I have an HP 2430, too.) This happened to me with both of the two cartridges I bought from Monoprice.
BTW, re: no supplier being consistently good, here's a little perspective... I thought I had one more cartridge in inventory (because I had an unopened LD Products box on the shelf). When I went to change the Monoprice cartridge, I figured out the new one was for an old printer. So I had to run out asap and buy a cartridge from a local dealer (Cartridge World). Yikes!!! He said he's typically about 10% cheaper than Staples (which doesn't carry the high capacity version at all), and I verified he was right. His were not OEM cartridges, but it still cost me $172 out the door - for one! Ouch! I can buy three at that price from LD Products with free shipping and money left over (and I can usually get them next day here, if I order early enough).
I will be reordering very soon (and making sure I have spare(s))!

Hi Janet - Yes I've had that same problem with no warning message about running out of toner. It's annoying; however, I had the same issue with my LD cartridges. The printer also sometimes does and sometimes does not recognize the toner cartridge chip as a genuine HP cartridge. You can still use it even if it doesn't recognize it as genuine. I am well out of warranty so this does not cause concern for me.
I'm paying $26.67 per cartridge at Monoprice when I order 2, where at LD I have to order three to get their best price of $41.40 (includes their ever-offered 10% coupon), and an OEM HPQ6511X cartridge is $175 at Amazon. For the significant savings with Monoprice, and considering they are good about taking care of issues promptly, I will continue to manage with the occasional bad cartridge and wasted paper when the toner runs out.
I just received an order from Monoprice and the box is different. Instead of the white box with the rainbow logo, I received a white box with a black bottom and a green checkered pattern in the middle.

Ladies, don't you find that the leaking toner
(I cannot think of one time where they didn't leak)
1) makes a MESS of your printer? 2) affects the quality of your documents? 3) totally destroyed the printer?

Why Don't you just have two Orginal manufactured carts and refill kits? I re-fill my 21000 page carterage for about 25 bucks... change the chip that comes with it and your printer tracks the pages, takes me about 5 mins to fill it up, a very simple process.... never had a problem

I have just received my first order of 3 cartridges from Monoprice after having 3 bad one's from LD Products replaced. I have an HP 2430dtn and would like to refill my own. Clem/CA says it is so easy but I have always had problems refilling. Any advice regarding refilling would be greatly appreciated.

I used to refill cartridges for my old printer but I couldn't find a supplier for toner for my 2430dtn. Also, I didn't want to mess with the chips. I think CopperheadVA has a good point, though. For the price she's getting at Monoprice, it may be worth letting them deal with the mess of refilling cartridges and putting up with a little loss of paper.
