Need high volume, fast speed dual tray printer
I used the orange search button and didn't find much. I have gone through two HP P20555dn printers in 3 years - my print volume is too high for them - I usually have 20 closings a week for @ 2600 pages.
Any suggestions?

I have a 4250 DT. Not sure what the current model number is. Prints 60PPM. I bit the bullet three years ago when I had to print five packages one afternoon, and make copies for the clients. My little 1320 just wasn't cutting it.
Bought a refurbished HP. They are around, with all the equipment liquidations. Try to find one in your neighborhood so that there is no shipping, because they don't ship that well from third parties, and they are heavy and bulky. I paid $1200 for this printer, and it has certainly been worth the investment.

I looked at a refurbishe HP LaserJet 4250DTN Laser Printer on eBay this morning priced at $389.99 with free standard shipping.

One problem is that it weighs 65.5 lb and I don't know how I would get it upstairs to my home office!

Lynn, I looked at the ebay printer below and it doesn't say compatible for Vista? That's what I use. What are you using?

with you were here...cause in Westmont, IL
there's a wonderful little shop with refurbished printers, copiers, laptops, heck, he sells headsets, new ones, at $2 bucks a pack! This guy has a huge huge warehouse full of refurbished, excellent professional heavy duty quality equipment, from large corps ugrading equipment!
I bought my HP 4100 DTN for only $90, in 2008, and (knock on wood) its still hustling like new! I'd plan to got back sometime in April for MORE equipment!
I can check to see if he ships, and I'll hit you up via PM if you're interested...

I recently got a refurbished HP4350 tn on EBay. It has 2 500 page tray drawers and is very fast. It only takes a few minutes to print an entire package. They are rated at 250,000 pages/month max.
You can also find other companies selling refurbished business office, heavy duty HP printers. The toners are rated for 20000 pages and compatible toners are available for about $40 at monoprice.com, and from others.
You just have to decide whether to take a chance on a refurb or pay much more for a new one, or to buy a light duty printer from a local retailer.

Make certain that whatever you buy on E-bay has the dual tray. When looking on E-bay for a dual tray printer, there are dealers that show a picture of a dual tray printer but that isn't the printer you get. I know this in that I have already had this issue when trying to buy a printer on e-bay from what was a disreputable dealer. They must indicate in their description that the printer you receive is, in fact a dual tray. Just an fyi in that most of the dealers are ok but you don't want to get that one bad one.

Saw this on Sams.com
Not sure if it meets your needs, it does appear to have two trays. http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/product.jsp?productId=prod2640364&navAction=

Re: Saw this on Sams.com
This Brother printer only has one full paper tray, and uses the multi-purpose tray as the second. Not difficult to do; I do it all the time. But it also appears the $70 savings offer expired on 3/4.

Also, if you look at specs, it's duty cycle is really pushing the limits for the volume Lynn is talking about. An all-in-one is probably not the best choice as a primary printer.

Forgot to mention this to you before but on e-bay there is a dealer called PFC tech deals in Atlanta, Georgia. I spoke with someone there a month or so ago about a refurbished printer and they seemed to be very concerned about customer satisfaction. I probably will do business with them soon and buy an HP 4350DTN. Look on e-bay under HP 4350 and I'm sure their number will come up as well as various printers they sell. I also went through an HP 2055dn as well as a couple of others. If you would like , you can e-mail or call me on my cell.

No, but a little over two years ago, I bought an HP 2430DTN on eBay from User ID "surplus.cpcs". I had some questions about installation and I actually got to a real person (without a phone menu) who was very knowledgeable about printers. It's a little older technology, but they were big just before the meltdown and he said he had tons of them in inventory. (Who knows what's around today...) I paid less than $200 for mine and it's been a workhorse. (Not nearly as fast as the 4350, but it spits out a package at about 35 pps.) Might be work looking at.
(BTW, I just checked recently and it looks like there are still drivers available for download from HP.)

Look at the Lexmark T Series
Very fast, high volume printers, should run about $1,250 with a 500 second drawer. Will print over 45 PPM and has a very low per page cost, less than a half a cent a page. If you're doing that much volume the cost per page has got to be a factor. Don't settle. I have another business which does vertical installation, and we have about 300 of these printers out doing very heavy duty without a problem and at much lower per page consumable costs than anything HP or Brother is putting out. You can PM me and I'll give you the name of a vendor that we use.

Absolutely love the HP 4200 or 4250. You can find them pretty reasonably priced refurbished.
