No good deed goes unpunished...

I took a signing from a company that I have never done business with because their reviews in SC are good. But I still had to call them and remind them to pay me, which they did do. Before I called them, I checked to make sure the deed was recorded on time and it was. Thankfully, I got the check last Monday, net 45 days. I called them on day 37.

Never again. Why do we have to REMIND people that you owe us???? That is sooooo unprofessional. To the SS and title companies out there, please pay people per the contractual agreement. Put sticky notes on each other's forehead if you must. This makes no sense at all to tell someone 'we forgot to pay you'.

I hate chasing my money, right now have two clients I need to hound every month and as of this month it is down to one. One company pays on the 15th they cut the check on the 15th but held it ten more days before mailing it. Spoke with them and said that is it I'm done with you.

Other client is about 40 days, this month it's more like 50 and I am POed right now. Only do 2/month from them and nada this month from them, I think they lost there major client.

My thing is if you pay net 45, then just say that. This company told me they pay in about 2-3 weeks (14-21 days)!! I took it upon myself to wait 37 days before I even called them. I'm sticking with my regulars.....

Many years ago I worked for a signing company who got behind on paying me. The problem progressed until, at one point, I had about 10 outstanding invoices and several of them were over 90 days. I had made several calls and been promised payment. When I called the last time, the owner actually said these words..."Business has been great and we have plenty of money in the bank, but we've just been too busy to pay our notaries." Suddenly, I became too busy to do any more signings for them. I did eventually get paid, but never did another signing for them.
