Requesting opinions
I received a call from a company which has high ratings here. When I asked how much they were paying for the refi, the caller said, "You're in our records at $xx plus $xx edocs."
Since I've never worked for this company before, I don't know how my fee could be in their records. For this particular situation, that fee is adequate, but I don't want to be tied to that for places far and wide.
On another note, when I asked where the confirmation would be sent, apparently they have two email addresses for me. I do know that I signed up with them, but it's been a long time ago, as is evident by one of the email addresses.
I'm looking for ideas on how to handle this supposedly agreed fee in the future. I know I update my fee here and on other sites, but apparently that is never reviewed before calls are made.

If you like you can tell them that you don't remember ever recording a fee with them. However in this particular instance that is an acceptable fee. However, each fee is negotiated on distance, etc. (whatever your criteria is) with a base of.... Whatever you want to say.
In the future, just say there must be some mistake. Or you can't imagine how that could have happened. Act surprised. Whatever. And start from ground zero.
Good luck.

Many companies use the ‘coffee’ site’s software. If you are a member there and posted fees you may want to modify them. I’m on many sites..I say my fee today is….I can do it, or you can call someone else.

It is also possible that you submitted your information
years ago and forgot about it. I experienced something similar recently. My standard fee is dynamic and is based on various parameters. As example, some of the loan package sizes have increase, in addition to gas prices.

I like your response, Alz. That's kinda what I was thinking too.

I think they all say "You're in our records......" whether you are in the records or not. Since they do have an old e-mail address and you think you might have signed up with them years ago, just explain your fees have increased since 19__ or 20__ because of the increase in your costs over the years.

That was then, this is now due to rising costs of supplies and gas esp.

Tell them gas prices have skyrocketed and your fee has been increased to reflect the change.
