There is such a thing as a coincidence

I was meeting an SFB (single, female borrower) at a coffee shop for her refi. I got there at 15 minutes early and a NLYM (nice-looking young man) comes up to me and asks if I'm the notary. He says he's already set up at a table and has coffee. Then he says he wants to see the HUD because they promised to send it to him yesterday but he never got it (where have we heard that before?). So I start going through the docs, while asking him if he's the LO (who hardly ever show up for refis, but ya never know). He doesn't really answer, so before I hand him the HUD I once again, point blank, ask him if he's the loan officer for my SFB (cos I've been around long enuff to know not to hand over docs to anybody without borrower OK). Anyway, he looks shocked and says no, he's so and so and he's buying a house at such and such address.
Yikes! What a coincidence. His notary finally showed up ... late. Made him leave the coffee shop and sign on a bench in the bank lobby(?)

The only notary coincidence I've had is a 2nd notary with a second loan to be signed. Fortunately, I've always had the first so...you know.

Wow, That reminded me of the time I showed up at a house and the owner answered the door and said come on in and join the party. I walked into the dining room and there were the borrower his wife and 5 other people sitting at the table. It seems that the borrower was refinancing 6 properties at the same time, through the same bank and title company was the same. But, we had all been called by different people ( signing services. the title company and 1 by the loan officer. Luckily the borrower thought it was pretty funny and we all just got down to business and the signings all took about 2 hours as after the first the borrowers just wanted to know where to sign because except for the addresses and the amounts the documents were all the same.
