What a week
Last Wednesday I was taking my wife to the airport for a girls vacation to the Bahamas and a senior lady runs a stop sign and wiped out our Acura. I tried to avoid her but could not, she sent me in to a parked truck.
We are both ok, had to go to the ER all the airbags went off(even the one's in the leather seats) the cars front end is crushed the car is totaled. Now my wife is POed about the trip and just found out insurance does not cover it. We have been car shopping the last couple of days and bought a replacement.
Now lets hope this week is better.

Well, that was a God shot for sure. The SBPD is putting up cameras all over town to catch people running red lights, $500 a pop. Should go far to hiring more officers (recently huge layoffs and the gang problem is growing, not shrinking). Jail over crowded. People are being released on their own recognizance, and getting bigger restitution fees.
Harmless old lady didn't mean to run into you, thank God you're both safe. Perhaps vacation to Bahamas not meant to be!

Trip insurance didn't cover it?
I would take the other driver to small claims court for the cost of the trip.

Re: Trip insurance didn't cover it?
This was the first time ever my wife insured a trip. We are meeting with a lawyer tomorrow to see what our options are.

We have never taken trip insurance out on any trip we have taken, this was the first time Kim ever did. Funny she wanted to fly out later that night but the airline wanted to charge 150 plus the full cost of the ticket so it would of been 700 dollars. If we booked it the next day on hotwire it would of been 200. She was very sore the next day and would not reach the boat on time.
They make you earn that repayment with all the claim forms and doctors you need to visit.lol

I bet she'd be covered for medical reasons.
She did go to the emergency room.

Re: I bet she'd be covered for medical reasons.
Even if the person who ran into you has insurance to cover the accident, don't forget to file for your own MedPay coverage. You pay for it, and that can make a real difference in your expenses out-of-pocket. (Work for a personal injury attorney gives me some insight.)

Re: I bet she'd be covered for medical reasons.
I agree with Shoshana (hi Shoshana!) A number of years ago, I had to cancel a trip as I was in the hospital getting a tubal pregnancy removed. From then on I've always gotten and still get the coverage. Ya never know when it'll come in handy and it's really not that much money.

I was unaware that trip insurance would afford
medical coverage for medical care totally unrelated to the trip...reimbursement for emergency cancellations, maybe - but unrelated medical care? Wow..

Linda Not sure if I understand you right, but my medical
bills were not covered. Just the price of the trip that I booked.

I may have misunderstood Shoshana's post
I thought she was referring to medical bill coverage...
Maybe I better go make that afternoon coffee..

And there is another potential way to recover
The lost fare is a consequential damage of the accident. The other party's insurance may cover it.
