What gives?
Just got a call from a company the Caller ID said was Iowa Settlement. The scheduler said he was from National Loan Closings. Anybody know the story? I asked for PayPal upfront fee because of the recent NLC complaints, and he went on down the road.

Hugh, to clarify, NLC is the platform used. There are some
companies that use their platform. The biggest problem I've had is that the fees offered are low-ball, usually $70 w/edocs in my area. I make a point of responding, only to let them know the fees are too low. They have met my fee a couple of times.

Iowa Loan Closings and National Loan Closings are two separate businesses operating out of the same offices and with the same personnel in suburban Des Moines; they treat me well, do negotiate fees, and pay as promised and when promised. National Loan Closers is a "board" or software system out of Cincinnati; they post opportunities at low fees and you can sign on for that closing. If their client [usually a certain company out of Louisville or Rhode Island] wants you they will call to confirm if you are still interested and you take it from there. MW, hope this caption wasn't viewed as snarky; I often, when rushed, have to remember the difference between National Loan Closers and National Loan Closings.

Sorry, you're right, Saul. I was referring to National Loan
Closers, not Closings. Both are referred to on the forum as NLC. My error & I apologize. :-)

Different experience here, Saul. Closing 12/23/11, paid 3/10/12 after repeated emails and phone calls. Note that NLC claims its payments are made the month after a closing occurs. I should have been paid no later than Jan. 31.
