What's in a name, new.
I didn't want this to get lost in the other thread as it was complete.
What if you pull out the name/signature affidavit and all the names in question are listed. In the affidavit they are swearing or affirming that the information is correct. Is that enough to proceed in California? GOLDGIRL

Name/signature affidavits are for the TC's use....not as a means of ID for the notary. All those names and their variations show up on the BO's credit report. Oftentimes, the credit reports are wrong and have names the BO's never heard of. One signing I completed, the wife had variations of her married and maiden name on the name/signature affidavit: (for example) Jane Elizabeth Doe - Jones. What also showed up was the name Jane Richardson. She looked up puzzled and then frowned and said, "Jane RICHARDSON?? Who's THAT?? and where on earth did they get THAT name?"
I agree with what Linda H/FL posted.

James, John and Jonah were my borrower, his brother and his uncle. How they got mixed up is not my bo's concern; getting them off as his ID definitely was. They had all roomed together earlier in life. "Never known as" went there with brother and uncle explanations.

I'm not in CA, but you need to understand that the Name Affivadit is NOT proof of identity - it is a document that lenders generate and use to tie several names together for their borrower. It may be fine for the lender's purposes, but it is NOT government issued identification - it is a sworn statement by a person that he/she is associated with those names. I would NEVER use the Name Affidavit as proof of ID. If you do that, you might as well accept their Costco membership card as proof of ID.
