With many misgivings, I am thinking about...
...upgrading my phone. I'm on Boost, and for years I've used a Motorola i776 flip phone. which is powered by kerosene. It's been a great phone, and in fact is my second one. I'm getting rather tired of having borrowers look at me so dismissively when I pull it out to call a title company, though. I also would like to be able to remotely access my email and web sites.
Do any of you on Boost have recommendations for a phone with email capabilities? I don't need GPS, and it doesn't need to be able to convert to a four-passenger LearJet. I just need a phone that wasn't born in the same century I was. I don't text, and I don't Tweet or Twitter or whatever that 140-character thing is, and I will die a happy man if I never receive or send one. A camera able to take pictures of IDs would be a major bonus.

I'll forward this to my husband, he may have some ideas. I think he has your same phone. ATT is keeping analog towers just for him, and maybe you?

Got as IPhone 4S recently. After a few days , and with a
little help from my grandkids. I got pretty good at it 16 gig model (bottom of line) is plenty if you are not going to put a lot of songs and videos on it. Emails pop right up , and are easy to reply, etc. Easy to take ID photos, and transfer them for printing. Lots of stuff that I don't need, but just don't use it. Downloaded and use some very helpful apps. Also works well as a phone. Easy to see and operate. I bought a stylus for about $10 . Makes it a lot easier than fingers if typing a longish message. Goog luck

I agree with Bob. I like the IPhone 4S. It has a lot of bells and whistles, but the basics are easy to use. Very easy to setup and use email.

I think the IPhone 4S would be Great...that Siri gal is the
bomb.
I have a new Galaxy 2S and I love it...but no Siri. All I've got is Vlingo.
I say, "Hi, Galaxy" and Vlingo says, "What would you like to do today?"
Siri is cooler. My girlfriend told her new 4S to "Remind me to call my husband at 4:00 pm."
Siri said, "I do not know your husband...I do not even know you."
I'm jealous...want Siri, but Love my BIG Galaxy 2S screen. LOVE IT.

If you're staying with Boost, have a look at the Transform Ultra. It has a lot of bells and whistles, however it has one feature that I think is more useful than Twitter and Facebook apps. The full qwerty keyboard that slides out. In fact, it will make using Twitter and Facebook or an occassional email less frustrating than miskeying on the virtual keyboard. It makes the phone itself a little heavier, not that an it's noticible after a week. It'll still fit in your shirt, pant, or coat pocket quite nicely.
Good luck.

You are too funny. I, too, must upgrade. Still have a flip phone. I send and receive very few texts. My contract doesn't renew until January and by then the phone I am considering will be "obsolete". I am not tech savvy in the least, any my friends have all said the Iphones are great. They do everything for you.

You can probably get an iPhone 4 still (no "s") for considerably less than the 4S. Hands down the best thing I've done for my business in a long, long time. Welcome to 2012, Hugh. You're gonna like it here

If you are staying with Boost, then iPhone is not an option.
I went to their website and I would choose one of the 3 Samsung Android phones listed.
You can find reviews and on them and other phones here:
http://reviews.cnet.com/1770-5_7-0.html?query=samsung+transform+ultra&tag=srch%3Ba&searchtype=products
The Samsung transform ultra would be my choice of the 3 android devices. It has a single core processor, which while slower than the latest and greatest is a little easier on the battery. It's performance is about that of an iPhone 3gs. All phones have a gps circuit in them these days whether you want one or not. All phones come with software to back them up to your computer.
About quality, the dirty little secret is that Samsung makes most of the electronic chips and other components used in most smart phones including iPhones. Most of your smart phones manufacturers except for Samsung are "assemblers" rather than "manufacturers", yes even iPhones.
No I don't recommend the Samsung phone because I own one. I have a Motorola Atrix2, and if that one was on Boost's list, I would be recommending that.
One warning though. You may get hooked and find yourself wanting more once you begin playing with the phone ....
Good Luck ...

Thanks, everyone
If this works out, I may be asking about replacements for my rotary dial phone at home, and even my Zenith vacuum tube radio.

My ringtone is the old telephone ringing, and it's fun
to hear the comments - "GAK! What's that?"
Oh, for the days when the phone would ring, and ring, and ring, until *somebody* answered...the pink Princess Phone...the lighted dial...

My pink princess phone is still hooked up and working in
my old room at my mom's house. She still uses it too. I told her that was the only thing I wanted out of my room someday is my pink phone.
